Fatwahs, jihads, and the occasional plane flown into a building demonstrates that those who read the Quran the most seem incapable of finding the peace that you suggest is hiding within its pages.

And that's the problems with the Abrahamic religions.

They can only have peace when all other non believing infidels have been eradicated.

They're just like viruses. They spread completely. It's either them or us.
At least viruses are natural and have no moral system.

Religious leaders are more powerful and destructive than any mafia crime boss or Mexican drug lord can ever hope for.

Which is why I've always made it a point to were a mask when I'm within 6 feet of a religious person.  I've found that this one get a wonderful reaction:

Except that when all non-believers have been eradicated they start a round of eradicating everyone who's beliefs aren't as 'true' as their own.
