I builT a small riding flail mower - that uses a horizontal shaft with steel cables with seizings welded on the ends of the cable to prevent the cable from unraveling.
Initial testing showed it worked excellent - with one problem -- shit flew EVERYWHERE - and even with long sleeves, face shield and goggles I ended up getting a pretty bad case of poison ivy.....
So - an enclosed cab was in order. I made my way to my local steel supplier and bought a couple hundred dollars worth of 3/4 inch light steel square tubing and some 20 gauge sheet metal - and some 1/8th inch lexan. Break out the MIG welder.
I got the cabin done today - and have a 12v squirrel cage blower installed - intaking through a 20 inch x 20 inch furnace filter mounted on the back.
The idea - is to pressurize the cabin slightly - so the outflow of air will keep the poison oak, ivy and sumac dust outside - and me nice and clean on the inside.
The challenge -- is to figure out what the pressure inside the cabin is - with the fan running. (Determining positive pressure means I found and sealed all air leaks)
How would you get an accurate reading?
And do it under 2 dollars.
