Here’s an interesting, but highly unlikely, scenario:
Trump and Biden tie at 268 electoral votes each. The means that state delegations in the House get to pick the next president. After some backroom deal-making, enough Republican delegations (I think it would only take two, but I can’t be arsed to look it up)decide they’ve had it up to HERE with Trump’s antics, and side with the Democratic delegations and Hey Presto, Biden is your next President.
BUT...the Senate gets to pick the Vice President. If Republicans maintain control of the Senate (as looks increasingly likely), they’ll pick Pence.
A Democratic President and a Republican VP. How cool is THAT??

A close race would preclude any gop power bloc from deciding that they've "had it up to here" with trumpism. In fact I'd say that this is already demonstrably, and not hypothetically, the case.
Biden will win ( and kamala will be vp ), but not by enough that gop candidates can abandon trump.

Whiteness, God, nativism and anti-intelectualism are now what define the Republican party. Trump remade it in his own image, and it worked.
The idea that Republicans will repudiate Trumpism is a pipe dream. If anything, they will embrace it even farther.
They may have to lay off the racism against any particular group, but they might be able to convince each group separately that the "other" racial groups are their enemies. Pit each group against each other.

And now Trump is filing lawsuits and demanding recounts...of course he's been telling us for a while now that was his plan.
Bonehead wants recounts in places that aren't even done counting the first time.

In this scenario, why would the Senate select Pence over Trump? Especially considering Biden may not live out his first term. To push the scenario to even more unlikely heights, Biden gets selected by the House, the Senate selects Trump as the VP, Biden dies shortly after Jan 20th 2022, leaving less than two years of his term to Trump and keeping a Trump re-election in 2024 viable. Everyone shuddered at the thought of 8 years of Trump. Can you imagine 10?!?

They certainly could pick Trump (they can pick anyone not disqualified from being President). But suppose Biden does die as you predict - what if Trump dies before picking a new VP (he’s close to Biden’s age and not in the best of health). In THAT scenario, Nancy Pelosi becomes President.

True. I still don't think they'd pick Pence, though. If they chose someone other than Trump, I think it'd be a senior Senator or Representative. Pence is as attractive a candidate as an unseasoned bowl of oatmeal.
Hopefully all this unlikely speculation is rendered moot by Pennsylvania flipping blue. I don't know if there are enough votes left, but Trumpleforeskin's 800,000+ lead there has been reduced to under 320,000

It’s looking that way. As of about an hour ago, Pennsylvania has about a million ballots left count, and Biden seems to be getting about 78% of them.
It’s not over.

Um my understanding is that the house gets to decide who picks if neither gets to 270?
But media right now is leaning to both Wisconsin and Michigan to Biden, which for now fucks Trump Royal clusterfuck family.

It’s not that simple. The House picks the president if there’s a tie, but it’s not a per-member vote. All of the Representatives from each state get one vote between them, so a candidate would need 26 votes (50% +1) to be president.
As an illustration, let’s say California has 20 Representatives in the US House and 15 of them are Democrats (I don’t know the actual numbers, but for this illustration, it doesn’t matter). So, they vote among themselves and then cast ONE vote for their preferred candidate - in this case, Biden. Each state gets one vote, not each representative.
