You have to grant that when you lay out what they must have done to get there..we're not talking about the smartest decisions a person could make. Wink
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

RE: The Archaeology Thread
I believe genetic evidence argues aborigines reached Australia in one single small group.  This suggest some singular event triggered the crossing.   It’s not just a bunch of knuckleheads keep sailing off over the horizon to never be heard from again, until one of them floated up on Australia still alive.

If it is a singular event that triggered the crossing, there was probably a good reason for for assuming sailing over the horizon was a reasonable response.     For example, maybe a large volcanic eruption denuded, as far as they know, all of the land they lived on, so if they stayed, they would starve.  So they might as well try their luck going over the horizon on boats.

interesting, but not very old, at least not very old for any parts of the world that isn’t the US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.

In many parts of the world it is not hard to find people living in houses older than that fort.

Sorry, I wasn’t aware there was a time limit.

Thank you for clearing that up, because it certainly didn’t look like one.

Out of Africa was not the first time.

Some previous groups of homo sapien had apparently reached Europe 100,000 years before the ancestors of all modern homo sapiens living outside Africa first left Africa.   But it appears early emigrants from Africa went extinct before their descendants could have met the ancestors of the modern Homo Sapiens in Europe or Asia.

That’s paleoanthropology, not archaeology.
