Some previous groups of homo sapien had apparently reached Europe 100,000 years before the ancestors of all modern homo sapiens living outside Africa first left Africa.   But it appears early emigrants from Africa went extinct before their descendants could have met ancestors of the modern Homo Sapiens in Europe or Asia.

That’s paleoanthropology, not archaeology.

Boru

noun: archeologist

  1. a person who studies human history and prehistory through the excavation of sites and the analysis of artifacts and other physical remains.

The discovery consisted of the physical remain from the prehistory of homo sapiens - humans in the narrowest reasonable sense.

So cold. Calling Homo sapiens mere hominids.

And why should we be called that? We are in the family hominidae.

Nice attempt at deflection, though.

Miniature Pompeii

Quote:Per VeronaSera, researchers are unsure what the building was used for but think it was too large to function as a private residence. The statement says that despite the fire damage, some of the structure’s interior was “preserved intact, with the magnificent colors of the frescoed walls dating back to the second century.” Other finds included decorated concrete floors and heating systems, notes ANSA.

Maybe our modern version of a promise or engagement ring? Gold looks so much more...yellow (?) than it does today. I have a few estate pieces that I bought at an auction that are more yellow, but many gold pieces of today, whether they're rings, pendants, chains...seem brassier.

12,000 year old rock paintings covering 8 linear miles of rocks discovered in the South American Amazons

Take that, Bayeux tapestry.

Also, the eternal city finally show evidence of having something bordering on being moderately old.   The tomb of city founder Romulus (circa 750 BC) has been discovered beneath steps of the Roman senate building

Possibly copper was added. It has a strong reddish cast. I'd like to think that those pieces are adulterated, in some way. My wife's wedding ring is quite yellow. I don't recall what alloy it is. I can check. I only remember that my mom thought that I was nuts for selling my '40 Chevy club coupe dragster to pay for that ring.

It looked kind of like the orange one down page in the 5th row, but was baby blue and didn't have the giant tires in the back. Or the racing paint job.

If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

Good points. Have you ever visited a museum and within the Egyptian exhibits (if you've been to these)...the gold jewelry being showcased always looks more yellow than what I've seen sold by retailers in the states. Like it's just striking!
