The NAACP was founded in 1910, though. Back when that was the accepted terminology. It has built an identity and brand with that name. The terminology "colored" shouldn't be used in regular conversation because of its segregationist associations, like, "no coloreds" signs on establishments and water fountains.
I don't know. I'm not black. So, if black people are telling me to not use a term(and they are; arewethereyet isn't pulling that out of her ass, it's a real thing that we're switching to African American, black, and person of color now based on feedback from the African American community on how the term "colored people" is received) then I respect that and listen. It's not a big deal to me and it makes a difference to the tone of the conversation and how we elevate it from the tone of these histories. I don't see why changing the words you use is a problem if it's hurting people.

Good job.
To be perfectly fair -
My buddy' s dad (who was black) referred to his own kids as "colored children". "Negro" was just going out of favor.
In the 70' s - that was perfectly acceptable. "Black" was just getting it' s sea legs at that time.
....
But yeah - that is amusing..

Bold is mine.
This makes me sad. Because I actually wanted to talk about these things. And it makes me tired. Like, Daycare, "when are the parents going to be here-tired."
Good night, everyone.

No Debbie the only shit sucker here is you. Mr. I got triggered by a random sentence in a news article then wrote a thread to bitch about it because it was too Pro Trans

Yup and that's no big deal even when your forum attack lemming tried desperately to make it an issue to distract away from your bigotry against Non-Binary people and questionable attitudes towards African Americans. See unlike you nobody buys the idea that I'm a racist so this ploy has failed.

Not an SJW so I don't own said card. Nor would I ever want it
Another sad attempt to shift the heat onto me goes up in smoke.
Oh and one more thing

Growing up, I remember adults informing me "colored people" was preferable over "black". At least I think I remember, much of my youth is hazy.

colored people = people of color. Linguistically they convey the same denotation - dark skin tone. However the connotation went went full circle thereby proving this: Any group that feels stigmatized will eventually reject any descriptor of group identity no matter how benign.

No one here referring to OLB as a racist has any evidence of their subjectively driven bias. Therefore, I prefer to dismiss such allegations and perceive him as a decent human being.
