I’m not a big fan of private firearm ownership, but I think if 37 had a modicum of practical instruction, he might not make so many silly arguments.

I’ve had arguments with other gun owners actually. Just because I believe everyone should have the freedom, I don’t believe everyone should exercise it.
It’s a complex conversation I usually avoid. Not sure why I’m dipping my toe in today.

Indeed. My father-in-law had a scanner and used to listen for exciting activity. He'd drive over to look at a major fire, and sometimes when shots were fired in a police situation. I told him he was going to get killed one day, doing that. I hear about shots or fires, I go the other way.

Precisely why I have not been in a bar for years.
We had a saying in the Navy- "One to drink, one to spill, and one for the Shore Patrol". Translated- a guy who has little experience with alcohol has a drink. He gets woozy, and spills the next one. If the Shore Patrol is lucky, he's just buzzed (maudlin) enough to offer his new best friends the third drink. We used to go scrape up drunks from the local bars all the time. I didn't get scraped up after that one fight because I wasn't drunk, and managed to get away, until identified later. Celebrating making second class petty officer...for ten days.

Never did much drinking while I was in. Not because I cared about rank, but I didn’t want to lose pay for anyone. Got called boring a couple times.
