He seems like he is keeping his cards close to his chest on this one, perhaps, trying to demonstrate that he has some self-control???

I think he’ll bow to the pressure being applied by the GOP not to announce until after the midterms. He has, by all accounts, become something of a millstone around the necks of Republican candidates. Also, an earlier announcement might very well motivate Democrats and Independents who might otherwise sit this one out. Boru

I have a tendency to agree, but, I think that if his polling numbers start to drop, then, he'll announce his run. I think that his rationale is one of "the lower the polling numbers, the more likely the prosecution." He is also going to play a game of chicken with the Republican Party -- nominate me, or, I'll run as a third-party candidate to get even.

If the interest in this thread is any indication, Trump is probably not running.

I doubt that pressure would in the end affect his choice of announcement by any significant degree. He choice will be informed by his desire to time his announcement to be half a new cycle before his indictment, so he can represent to his base that the subsequent indictment is the reaction to his candidacy and part of continuing “steal” that aims to keep him from his rightful place as the kleptocratic El Presidente for life. The RNC is threatening to stop paying Trump’s legal bills ($1.7 million so far since October) if he announces his 2024 candidacy before the midterms. That’s how toxic his name is right now.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
