Utah Sen. Mike Lee introduces bill to ban sexual images entirely from the internet

Opponents of the bill say that it would essentially ban pornography while also endangering sex workers and giving Republicans a strong weapon for targeting sexual education materials and LGBTQ-inclusive content.

“If passed, any American who knowingly ‘makes, creates, or solicits, and initiates the transmission of, any comment, request, suggestion, proposal, image, or other communication which is obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, or indecent’ via the internet would be fined or imprisoned under federal law, as it is ‘a channel or instrumentality’ of interstate commerce,” The Mary Sue noted.

The adult industry news outlet XBIZ and the adult industry advocacy group Free Speech Coalition (FSC) both said Lee’s bill would essentially ban all online sexual content nationwide.

While browsing TVTropes, specifically the "Sin City" character page, I briefly had an ad proclaiming "Culture is out to get your children!"

Not even "Cancel Culture" or "Woke Culture." Just culture in general. For what it's worth, I saw that they were plugging one of the books in this video (starting around 14:30), where "Culture" is actually the name of a vulture who thinks it's a good idea to turn an elephant into a bird.





I wish I thought to screengrab it from my iPad before it refreshed to a less batshit ad. But it reminds me of two things. One old Rationalwiki article about how neoreactionaries (the predecessors to the alt-right) viewed something they called "The Cathedral":

Even if there's something like this that you could be persuaded to see, it's hard to imagine a proper conspiracy without conspirators. What Moldbug describes looks more like a culture: a broadly shared set of associated social values embodied in shared institutions, symbols, and practices. If you are reading this, you probably live there. This is what he's against.
