Roe v. Wade is gone.
RE: Roe v. Wade is gone.
So anti-abortion activists still rally but pro-choice people don't. Wtf?

Quote:Thousands of anti-abortion activists convened on the National Mall on Friday for the March for Life, the rally held every January since 1974 to protest Roe v. Wade. This year, for the first time, they were there to celebrate its demise.

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/20/us/ma...-wade.html
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Priest found guilty of blocking entrance to abortion clinic, faces prison time

On the morning of July 7, 2022, Father Fidelis Moscinski, 52, a priest of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, effectively shut down the Planned Parenthood of Greater New York clinic in Hempstead for about two hours, according to the DOJ. He placed locks and chains on the gated entrance and covered some of them with glue, which prevented anyone from getting through the gate. After the fire department and the police department eventually cut through the locks, Moscinski laid down in front of the entrance to prevent cars from going through the gate, a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

On Monday, the court delivered a guilty verdict from the bench. Post-conviction motions must be filed by Feb. 7, and the sentencing is scheduled for 2 p.m. on April 24.

“The defendant attempted to prevent women from accessing their legal right to vital reproductive and pregnancy services,” United States Attorney Breon Peace said in a statement on Sept. 29, 2022, after Moscinski was charged.

In an interview with EWTN on July 16, 2022, Moscinski acknowledged that he blocked access to the clinic so he could “talk to the mothers who were coming in that morning.”

“Imagine if you were one of those children scheduled to be executed that day,” Moscinski said. “Would you not want every possible effort to be made to save your life? And saying that something is a step too far is simply saying, ‘Well, some lives are less valuable than others; we could sacrifice only up to a point and then we’ll let these others die.’”

(Bold mine)

Imagine if you were one of those women scheduled to have your life saved by an abortion that day due to your ectopic pregnancy. Would you not want every idiotic, woman-hating religious nutjob like Father Moscinski charged with attempted murder for denying you access to a LEGAL life-saving medical treatment?

Her baby has a deadly diagnosis. Her Florida doctors refused an abortion

Nobody expected things to happen the way they did when halfway through their planned and seemingly healthy pregnancy, a routine ultrasound revealed the fetus had devastating abnormalities, pitching the dazed couple into the uncharted landscape of Florida’s new abortion law.

Deborah and Lee Dorbert say the most painful decision of their lives was not honored by the physicians they trust. Even though medical experts expect their baby to survive only 20 minutes to a couple of hours, the Dorberts say their doctors told them that because of the new legislation, they could not terminate the pregnancy.

Deborah didn’t pay much attention to the laws when they were enacted, never believing she would want an abortion. But that has changed.

“It makes me angry, for politicians to decide what’s best for my health,” she said. “We would do anything to have this baby.”

They have resolved to wait in Lakeland, still confused by the law that is determining her care.

“We have never really understood,” Lee Dorbert said. “We were told there was an exception,” he said, recalling conversations with their doctors. “Obviously not enough of an exception in some cases.”

Florida’s 15-week ban is currently being appealed before the state Supreme Court. Meanwhile, state legislators have indicated they may tighten restrictions, and Gov. Ron DeSantis ® suggested he would sign a six-week ban.

Standing with Moms Act would create “Life.gov” website of anti-abortion information for pregnant people

The Standing with Moms Act would create a new website called Life.gov, with anti-abortion information for pregnant people. Currently, Life.gov does not exist.

The website would be required to include information about abortion alternatives, the concept of abortion pill reversal (which has no validity), child development in utero in an attempt to dissuade abortion, and health risks associated with abortion — which in reality are very low.

The website would also be required to contain certain information that doesn’t fan the flames of partisan or ideological culture wars, such as baby supplies and mental health counseling for postpartum depression.

The House version was introduced on January 25 as H.R. 517, by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC1). The Senate version was introduced that same day as S. 76, by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL).

Oh, a member of one of the most famous vocally anti-abortion families admitted she got an abortion

Quote:Jessa Duggar Seewald revealed that she suffered a miscarriage over the holidays.

In the nearly 19-minute YouTube video, the 19 Kids and Counting alum, 30, shared the tragic journey of her latest pregnancy, from informing her kids about the new baby to dealing with the aftermath of the news that she had miscarried.

Jessa documented in one scene on camera that she had been concerned early on in the pregnancy because she had been "spotting" blood. She relayed that her family sang the devotional hymn "Day by Day" to cheer her up.

However, upon arriving at her next ultrasound appointment, the doctor broke the terrible news that the baby did not "look good."

Due to risks of complications, she decided to check in to a hospital to perform a dilation and curettage procedure to remove the baby from her womb.

I mean "remove the baby from her womb" sounds like an abortion.

3 abortion bans in Texas leave doctors 'talking in code' to pregnant patients

the fear among doctors and patients in the new legal landscape in Texas is extreme, to the point where — as Miller found — some doctors won't say the word "abortion" in the exam room.

The first amendment of the constitution protects free speech, explains Elizabeth Sepper, professor of law at University of Texas at Austin. "Physicians have independent speech rights, to speak to their patients openly," she says. "Physicians should not be scared to say the 'a-word.'"

Nevertheless, that seems to be what's happening. Many doctors in Texas who treat pregnant patients are extremely scared, especially of language in one of the state's abortion bans that allows people to take civil action against anyone who "aids or abets" abortion.

"I have colleagues who say cryptic things like, 'The weather's really nice in New Mexico right now. You should go check it out.' Or, 'I've heard traveling to Colorado is really nice this time of year,' " says Miller's OB-GYN. Patients have to be well-educated enough to pick up on these hints, do their own research, and figure out what to do next. They also have to have the means to travel or find funding to do so, if they want to pursue abortion.

My oldest granddaughter has a friend who was searching the web for home remedies to end a pregnancy.  I don't even want to think about what sort of dangerous crap is out there.  Luckily it was a false alarm, but it shows that people are going to look for a way if they are desperate.
