'It's cheaper to have a kid': Lauren Boebert explains why she quit birth control
"I left a prescription at a pharmacy once," she recalled. "I went to get birth control, and I was there at the counter and went to pay for it, and the price was very, very high. I said, wow, is this a three six-month prescription? 'No, ma'am, this is one month.'"
"And I said, it's cheaper to have a kid," the lawmaker added. "And I left it there, and now I have my third son."

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

It took Warren Buffet/Bezos/etc 3 years to grow their wealth by 50%. The beggar on the street where i live managed to do that in a single day!! I just gave him a Euro.
Right after WWII* the German economy was growing with stellar numbers! They must have been doing things SO much better way back then.
*when German econony was nearly non-existent
Again, we are discussing long term competitiveness not quality of life.

@Dmitry1983 is simply an ignorant chuckle-fuck that will never understand that quality of life will always be more important than national GDP.
Lack of growth makes an economy fragile so any major disruption will decrease quality of life.

So, I crunched some numbers, did some Googling. It apparently costs $310,605 to raise a child from birth to their 18th Birthday. Divide that by 12 months and 18 years, we're left with these options:
- There's some drug company whose rates are so usurious that they charge $1438 for a single month's worth of Birth Control
- She was one of those children who, when given a choice between one marshmallow now and two marshmallows fifteen minutes from now, chose the former immediately.
- She's an idiot who can't do math.
- She's lying.
And the sad thing is I can believe any of the four options.

Once again you are the one talking about that and again long term or short term the point remains the original point remains the same.

Quote:You seem to be pretty bad at math and logic. If exports are growing fast and share of exports is falling then total GDP is growing even faster.
Ah no you are the one whose bad at both of those because one assumption doesn't follow from the other....
Again you display your ignorance

Economically the people's quality of life and safety must be sacrificed for mere competitiveness or to grow a mere number. The economy serves the people the people are not cogs for the economy nor does one need to be sacrificed for the other as that is simply a fallacy either or fallacy of the ugliest kind. Nor should free Western democracy try and emulate authoritarian regimes. We can do things our own way. We don't need to become the devil to defeat it.
