Limiting myself to what's true and rational is what makes me an atheist.
I don't just dislike christianity, I dislike all religions.

For one thing, you shouldn't spread the lie that Copernicus' books were burned by the church.

Here is an article from Physics Today, a publication of The American Institute of Physics, describing the true story.

If you dislike Christianity because it teaches things that are factually incorrect, you should make an effort to say things that are factually correct to oppose it.

Like you had ever given a single rat’s ass about facts in your constant, slippery, strutting, dogged defenses of the greatest disgraces to ever afflict humanity.

I don’t dislike Christianity because it is factually incorrect anymore than I would have disliked the epic of Gilgamesh, the Iliad, don Quixote, Alice in wonderland, the tale of drucula, the little mermaid, or Star Trek, for being factually incorrect.      None of these works of fiction needed to ever defend themselves about their own factual accuracy.    Any idea why, you idiot?

The fact that there are so many who would defend the indefensible - the Bible’s and Christianity’s factual accuracy - should all by itself be enough to tell any observers much about why Christianity is so hateful and loathsome.   I loath Christianity because of why it pushes the factually incorrect tale, I loath Christianity because it tries to lie, cheat, cajole, force, browbeat, defraud others into believing what is factually incorrect to be factually correct at a time when humanity has developed all the ways needed to find out what is factually correct,  and most of all I utterly loath Christianity what it seeks to gain, for itself,  through its naked appeal to lowest common denominator of human intellectual defect, gullibility, and greed for the overarchingly unearned; and for itself, by using what is factually incorrect to advocate a sickening, diseased, misanthropic morality in the name of “salvation”.

Get that through your disingenuous, self important, blithering idiot of an apologistic head when next you try your one and only trick of doing anything, saying anything to minimize what Christianity have to answer for.

And yet, another wall of incessant drivel.

When are you actually going to respond with anything other than the absurd, irrational twaddle you relentlessly pedal.

Using your sad, feeble, fantasized doctrine to corroborate your sad, feeble, fantasized doctrine is truly comical.

Find a hobby. And no, meth is not a hobby.

Claiming that the catholic church abolished slavery, while the bible clearly endorses it, that was rich, very rich.
Portraying the catholic church as being persecuted, while it literally persecuted even entire other christian denominations (!), while it had a dedicated organisation to persecute "heretics", that was just as rich.
The catholic church and science? Well, it took 400 years to rehabilitate Galilei.
The catholic church and advancement of society? Well, the Pope still is against any method of contraception.

They have schools that are run by volunteers to teach abandoned street children and run soup kitchen as well as other services according to the community needs. These services are provided, without charge, to people regardless of their religion or social status."

Mother Teresa believed that suffering brought one closer to God. Consequently, Western volunteers often came away reporting deplorable conditions. Trained medical professionals are nowhere to be found; medical supplies are expired, inadequate, or reused. Painkillers are frowned upon as Teresa believed pain was an integral part of the all-important suffering.

She raked in an estimated US$75 million per year in donations, but only about 7% of Missionaries of Charity's budget has gone to its programs. So she may have had this larger-than-life international image of a great healer, but within Calcutta, she was little more than a small-time missionary.

She believed their poverty was a crucial component to their spirituality. If you sought aid at one of her missions you may have gotten a clean bed and possibly an aspirin, but you certainly got a Catholic baptism.

Hitchens interviewed her extensively and knew her well. He wrote what she'd made it clear to him, which is that in no uncertain terms that hers was a mission of conversion and baptism, and not of social work.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I'm not finding where in your article it says that they did not burn Copernicus' books. Could you provide the page and quote the passage? Instead, the article notes that, " was essentially a propaganda war against Copernicus," and, "But the Catholic Church, being a much larger and more tradition-bound and bureaucratic institution, was left clinging to its anti-Copemican views for a long time. Its ban on Copernicus remained until 1822, and his book remained on the forbidden list until 1835."

Militant Atheism is not just the claim that there is no God. Militant Atheism is the claim that Religion (esp. Christianity) is allegedly positively evil.

Shouldn't have started that war if you didn't want to fight it.

(The Descent of Man, 1871). Lol, like Sanger saying she didn't want word to go out that she wanted to exterminate the Black Population, I'm sure Militant Atheists will have some explanation for this.
Sure there's an explanation,  Chucky D was from an incredibly racist and very christian society.

Quote:Again, if Lincoln and Wilberforce had thought like this, Slavery would never have ended. That's a brute historical fact and shows the Greatness of Christianity. It shows that, when the Spirit of God wakes men (and women) up to the Truth that "love your neighbor as yourself" and "do unto others as you would have them unto you", not to mention Christ's limitless exhortations to charity (e.g. in Mat 25: "Whatsoever you did to the least of these, that you did unto Me. Therefore, come ye blessed, and enter the Kingdom of My Father"), how much Good was done for the World.
Lincoln did think like Darwin?  Both men were casual white supremacists, though I doubt I'd call either virulent ones.

Buddhism and confucianism got the golden rule a few centuries before this christ fella. Actually, there's a really good case for it being a syncretic add on - you can map it showing up in time and on route in the major trade passages of the day from china to the near east - but if we're claiming that christianity made society some way and thus christianity is responsible for it's expression even if the specific ideas aren't exclusively christian (or even originally christian) - then slavery itself would appear to be the responsibility of christianity in those societies as well. It wouldn't be hard..and it wasn't hard..for slavers to find justification for the practice in magic book. I suppose that it's decent to put out fires you start..eventually - but I'm not sure I'd call that contribution. More like being pulled kicking and screaming. They did decide to fight a war over it, after all.

What do you think, being a history buff, the things that christianity is responsible for in christian societies..like slavery....tells us about christianity?
