I would vote for someone from the Green party, but I feel like I'm wasting my vote... not that I am so deluded as to think my vote counts, anyway. Just sayin'.

Well, unfortunately, your stupid Tory government does not want it... They will use their dirty money to campaign against it when the time comes for the referendum. And people's opinions are very easily manipulated by authority.

The political system in the US is essentially rigged. Gerrymandering and the electoral system has made dissenting votes count for nothing. For example a republic living in a democrat controlled district or vice versa their votes would not really count because the district has one vote. Both parties participate in this and until we have a straight popular vote we will continue to have the george bushes of the country elected. I really think the two party system is outdated but i guess i can't really complain because I don't have a better alternative. My support goes to candidates I feel are progressive but not just handing money out and have an interest in developing our scientific research programs.

When it comes to politics, in America we have three basic options when it comes to politics

1) Democrats- Woefully inadequate, but for reasons that will be explained later on, is the party I support primarily because it's the least evil.
2) Republicans- This party has gone a long way since the days of Teddy Roosevelt. Instead of being Crazy Awesome like Teddy was, the Republican Party ceased to become the fountain for progressivism that you would expect of a party which was made famous by Abraham Lincoln. This appeared to have ended with Herbert Hoover being confronted with the Great Depression and doing jack shit about it. About thirty years later, the best man they could come up with was Richard Nixon, a man who became famous for being the yardstick for political corruption (at least in America.) After Nixon, however, the candidates seem to have just grown more and more exponentially insane (I'm sure we all remember Christine O'Donnell, who couldn't say anything better about herself than "I am Not a Witch".) If this keeps up, I can't see how insane their candidates for 2016 would be.
3) Third Party- There's a shitload of "Third Parties" in America which have no chance of winning. I do not support them for reasons anyone familiar with the 1912 election should find obvious: Taft and Roosevelt split the progressive vote such that Woodrow Wilson won. Despite this, of course, I'm still wearing a 1912 Roosevelt T-shirt that I got for my birthday yesterday. Even in 2000, Ralph Nader stole just enough votes from Al Gore so that, even though he won the popular vote overall, he lost in Florida.

Of course, there's still the option of staying home on election day, but that would make too much sense.

As a result, I'll support the Democrats until the real silent majority rises up and walks the Earth and takes over the government.

The Democrats because they are less of a bunch of scumbags than the republicans and marginally less a bunch of crooks.

We don't get great choices in America. Next time it will be Obama on one side and craziest of 8 lumps of shit on the other.

I don't think any of the main three parties want it. It's unfair to blame it all on the Tories.

In any case, if the time comes, I shall campaign for the referendum.

I'm Scottish... I'd blame the Tories for AIDS if I could.
