Except that it wasn't the early Catholic church. There was about as much time between Augustine and Aquinas as between Aquinas and us.

And, perhaps not coincidentally, between Augustine and Aristotle.   Perhaps every four hundred years a philosopher whose name begins with the letter "A" spouts this "altruism is evil, greed is good" crap.

I don’t know that this particular pastor is mentally ill, but he’s definitely taking advantage of people who likely are.

In fact, he seems pretty savvy. For the relatively small investment of a DreamHouse and a baseball bat (I’m assuming he already had the Bibles), this little stunt is sure to improve the collection plate take.
