I still think staff should get one free pass a year to ban someone just 'cause. But that's not how things are run here.
I don't envy your power. I can only imagine having to listen to all of the punk ass bitches who come whining to you because someone disagreed with them as rudely as they did from the start. I almost never report anything unless it really is spam. Trolling? That's just a smokescreen. If I had a theist forum I wouldn't ban anyone for trolling unless it got way out of hand. Sometimes that is the response to disagreement. If you can't win an argument harrass the person unmerciful. That's just easily ignored. In fact, I have to unignore one right now. Most the time people don't go that far, it isn't worth the trouble.
Oh, I have unignored a few, recently. In fact, I only have two on my list right now.

Oh, being banned? Well - you've got to ban Polish lugnut peddlers, don't you.

Well, when you ignore me just remember you won't be able to see what I have to say, and naturally, that would be a tragedy.
ETA: Seriously, though, it is a shame to have to ignore, IMO, the one I just unignored is a case in point. That one has important stuff to say but his ego obfuscates that. Lots of fun for me unless I want to talk with other people. If you have to dig through an unmerciful amount of shit to find the treasure at some point you have to move on. I've been doing this a long time. Lots of shit. The tolerance doesn't increase, it decreases.

I can still read even those I have ignored. Sigh, part of the job.

It makes me feel better.
And, if someone's on ignore they can't PM you.
Sometimes PMs get a little out of control. Better to force the info onto the main pages.

Religion is social so it only makes sense that atheism is an objection to at least something that is social I don't know about sociopolitical.
It's not just that someone wrote a book about God/Gods and I don't believe the contents are factual, it's that I live in a society were a lot of people do believe it's true.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.

not that it matters, but I agree with that 100%. I don't PM and don't trust PMs to me. The political implications seem nefarious. I don't want to make friends or enemies. My experience with PMs is that the person is trying to get some information or leverage, probably for someone else. I also don't like kudos and those types of incentive. WAY too political. Let's gang up on this fool. You don't fit in. You don't toe the line. I like giving kudos for posts that have some substantive quality, whether it be funny or relevant or interesting. Often if they make a good point against my argument. So I give kudos to people who think I'm their enemy. They think I'm trying to fuck with them in some way when I'm just saying good point.

Israel, the Jewish religion of old, Moses and all of that, was social and political. Here's the laws, agree with them or face the consequence, or get out. Conversion is welcome. Christianity, originally, was social in an isolated sense. The society was the congregation. So, no homosexuality, no abortion IN the congregation. Outside of that is none of their business and inside is no business of the society Christianity itself is in unless they are breaking the law. One of the tenets of early Christianity is to follow the law of whatever society they are in so long as it doesn't conflict with God's will, standard, purpose, etc.

Surely what goes on inside a religion is a concern of society and others? It may well be that they are doing that which is harmful, immoral, or subversive. It needs to be examined and if found engaged in something untoward, challenged.
