Who counts as queer?

RE: Who counts as queer?
I just think everyone is queer until they tell me they are not.

I acknowledge that you consider me rude. Isn't that enough?

Enough for what?  I'd prefer it if you weren't rude to me.  I don't really care about anything else.

You called me rude and I responded. I was wondering if you wanted to continue to tell me that I'm rude. Maybe it makes you feel better. Apparently it wasn't enough.

I doubt I'll be able to read your mind in order to tell what you consider rude. If you're going to be sensitive I can simply not converse with you, just let me know.

Oh no!  You used the word sensitive.  Now you will be ignored like my rude self who also called him sensitive.

Thump and Nudger are already on the list too....not a bad group to join IMO.

I'm willing to continue to converse with you. If you could be more civil that would be good. If not, then at some point I will ignore you. I trust that's fair.

Again, I have to read your mind?

I am:
A father
A Brother
A son
An Atheist
An Agnostic
I am straight, CIS gendered
I am a CAD Monkey
I am an Electrical Designer
I am a Broncos Fan (Denver and Boise State)
Some people call me a friend
Others call me an asshole
I am caring
I am compassionate
I am uncaring
I am inconsiderate
I am kind
I am cruel
All of these are true at some time or other, some more often than other.

I am... Me, and that's the only label that tells the true story. I fail to understand why any other labels matter.

Who counts as queer? Well, anyone who claims the label. Why do we need a detailed definition other than that.

Need Is an interesting question.
But let's imagine a scenario: an asexual person wishes to enter an lgbtq+ society, space, or obtain some legal protection or bursary etc laid aside for lgbtq+ folk.  Whether they count as queer or not matters to them.

It's a discussion that occurs a lot in queer spaces, in my experience, and makes various queer magazines and news articles etc.

Seems to me the world would be a better place if we all just took each other as we are, without all the labels bestowed by others. Fussing over those labels gives them an importance they should never have. YMMV

To some degree all social interaction is like that. If in doubt, err on the side of politeness. I have never had an issue with it.

In am ideal world where things like racism, sexism, homophobia etc didn't exist, I agree.

At this point in time, words like gay or female are useful.

Same scenario, different word. Guess I'll have to find my kid gloves.

Well, if you'd rather, we could just agree to have uncivil communication as our normal style. I can talk rudely, sarcastically, and meanly etc if that's your preferred style of chat.
