Quote:Tesla's Robots Were Just Remotely Controlled Dummies, Analyst Confirms

An army of extremely "I, Robot"-like Optimus humanoid robots could be seen pouring drinks and conversing with eventgoers.

But despite Tesla CEO Elon Musk making a big deal out of artificial intelligence at the event, the robots were teleoperated by humans, a smoke-and-mirrors tech demo that had investors shaking their heads, and raising plenty of questions over Tesla's ability to bring the tech to the masses.

In a note, Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas wrote that the bots "relied on tele-ops (human intervention)." Sources also told Bloomberg that the Optimus robots were reportedly using AI to walk, but relied on assistance from a nearby human to chat.

During the event, Musk promised that Optimus "can be a teacher, babysit your kids, it can walk your dog, mow your lawn, get the groceries, just be your friend, serve drinks. Whatever you can think of, it will do."

The scary thing is that a lot of people will believe this.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I've seen more of them around here. It's an expensive political statement, especially when their shit goes wrong and you're upside-down.

I have ridden in a normal looking Tesla a couple times. Couldn't figure out the door. And, surprise, it wasn't white guys driving them.

Of course. It obviously drove by itself because Tesla cars drive themselves since 2017.

I’ll wager any odds that in 50 years, no one will be restoring a cybertruck to its ‘former glory’.

Kinda difficult since there was no glory to begin with...damn, those things are ugly.  Five year olds can draw a nicer looking car.
