I especially liked her comment, ‘We’ll even take Bernie Sanders off your hands!’

Meta continues to rear its ugly head. Good thing I already boycotted all social media related to them.

This is the failure of leadership. California Republicans thought it was more important to go to Florida than help in whatever way they could where the crisis is happening.

The entire California House Delegation was there except David Valadao who voted to impeach Trump after January 6th.
Instead of coordinating aid, offering a presence, or using their platforms to assist those affected, these representatives chose to leave the state at its most vulnerable moment.
In doing so, they have not only abandoned their duty to Californians but also cast doubt on their priorities and dedication as elected officials.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Yeah, that was my first thought.

And yet, unelected people with no moral or ethical obligation to do so are helping. It makes perfect sense to flee from a fire, but not to shout 'Later, losers!!' as you do so.
