RE: Do you protest? Armchair or street and does any of it matter?

Protesters are self-selected, which means we really don't know how representative they are of the general population.
Polls seem much more likely to sway those in power, if the powerful are actually paying attention.
Unfortunately Trump often dismisses polling he doesn't like as "fake."

He says that, but I bet it dawns on him often..and everytime anew....... because dementia.....that people hate him, that he's insufficient, that he's a failure falling upward. I'd put five bucks on that being why he wigs out in the middle of the night by copy of this truthing nonsense. Pure panic.

I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Time for a musical interlude:
Best protest song ever, in my opinion ... god damn it.

We still have to carefully choose our battles.
And when it comes to protests turning violent, protesters often lose more public support than they gain that way.
It’s often been said that ‘you fight the fights you can win’, which strikes me as cynical, self-serving nonsense. You fight the fights that need fighting.
I think whether violent protests win or lose public support has to do with the intensity and commitment of the protesters. The protest I was personally involved in spanned 30 years. You don’t change anything by waving a banner at the weekend and then forgetting about it.
