Elon Musk announces his departure from DOGE and president Trump’s cabinet

Panic Panic Panic Panic Panic

He wasn’t exactly a rousing success. First, he claimed he could cut $2 trillion, then it was $1 trillion. Then he crowed about cutting $160 billion. Given that his ‘cuts’ actually cost the government $135 billion, his actual savings (assuming he’s not lying) are $25 billion.

If my arithmetic is correct (no guarantees), this is three one hundredths of one percent of total US federal spending.

Sort of like hiring someone who promises to mow you lawn, but quits after plucking one blade of grass.

Edit: re-checked: it’s three one thousands of one percent.

Quote:Robyn Denholm, the chair of Tesla, Inc., pushed back on reports that the electric vehicle (EV) giant’s board members have launched a search for a new chief executive to succeed CEO Elon Musk — a key adviser to President Trump and his efforts to revamp the federal government.

Denholm’s defense came after the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday night that Tesla contacted several executive search firms to begin a search for a new leader, citing people familiar with the discussions.

The Journal reported that the company’s board met with Musk recently and suggested that he should be more present at the company, adding that the tech billionaire did not object.

“Earlier today, there was a media report erroneously claiming that the Tesla Board had contacted recruitment firms to initiate a CEO search at the company,” Denholm wrote on social media platform X shortly after midnight Wednesday. “This is absolutely false (and this was communicated to the media before the report was published).

“The CEO of Tesla is Elon Musk and the Board is highly confident in his ability to continue executing on the exciting growth plan ahead,” she added.

I just want to see them all fall away.  Heard this morning that the doofus who included a reporter in the group chat about attacking Yemen is out.

Watching them fall is the most fun I have had in a while...

The only reason Musk is leaving DOGE is because he has to according to the law. As an unelected official, he cannot work for Trump for more than 130 days. He is over 100 days, so he is not even leaving but spreading "wisely" his remaining 30 days. Trump and co. are pretending like Musk is going away because he wants to, but they are gaslighting.

And when it comes to his position in Tesla, even if they removed him as CEO, he still has the majority of Tesla stocks, so unless Tesla goes down, he will still have money to bribe politicians, judges and in other ways buy Trump what he needs to be a dictator.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Actually, although he is its largest shareholder, Musk does not own ‘the majority of Tesla stock’. Various sources list his holdings as between 13% and 17% of the company. Yes, that’s plenty of money, but not enough to keep him from being forced out.

As for his tenure at DOGE, if Trump really wanted to keep him, he’d be there. Laws don’t matter anymore.

Law, law...what is this law you speak of?  Trump is letting him go because if he wanted to keep him around he'd just ignore the law.  Have you not been paying attention to Trump's opinion of law?  He has pretty much yelled from the rooftops that he is above the law.

They are in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Musk's toxicity is absolutely killing the brand. On the other hand, he is the reason Tesla is valued way, way, way above it's earnings. Investors have been convinced by Elon that he can do miracles. So if they get rid of him, they virtually guarantee the value of the company will plummet. Keep him and Tesla may become the next My Pillow.

I'm glad I never invested money in Tesla because they are in for some hurt no matter what they do.

Agreed, he's leveraged his leadership of Tesla to the extent that if he leaves, Tesla may die, and if he stays, Tesla faces serious backlash and may die -- especially now that China is cutting off rare earths needed for batteries, which tariffs the President whose cock he sucks will clearly be aimed at his company, namely, Tesla.

Either way, his playing remora to Trump's shark will drag Tesla into the weeds -- pardon the mixed metaphor.

A little creative billing.  Say he hereby declares something once a month, and claims he had this galaxy brain revelation over the course of an hour.  30 days might be good for 60 years!
