Are you excited to see which asshole will be voted to be the pope whome then everyone ignores?
Some media outlets are trying to rattle the vote with hysteria that the "conservative pope" might be elected - as if they all are not conservatives.
Nevertheless, I guess Benedict was considered the "conservative" one, thus everyone made fun of him until he resigned and then they chose the pope smiley face - or at least that's how I remember things, I wasn't paying much attention.

‘Conservative’ in the RCC is a relative term. If they should elect a Pope who, for example, believes that masturbation isn’t sinful, he’ll be labeled a dangerous radical.

Relatively speaking, I think it will be better for the world at large if they elect a pope who is more liberal and progressive. Probably better for the survival of the church, too.

I don't pay enough attention to the RCC anymore to care one way or another. But since I grew up in Catholicland Midwest, I know a lot of people who do care. I will let them fret about it.

We need a pope with the courage to name and report all the child molesters in the church (not that such a thing would ever happen of course)

Apparently, Robert Prevost is the new pope. Apparently, he’s a centrist in the tradition of Francis, but not terribly outspoken. No word on whether or not he has a secret uterus, but one detail I’m excited about: he’s the first Chicagoan pope.
