The Absurd GOP

Just imagine any Democrat saying this about any Republican-controlled area.

If the ‘city of criminals’ thing were remotely true, just imagine 300 guardsman and 700 Marines trying to control 4 million pissed off Angelenos.

It would be more accurate to say that our government is now controlled by a criminal.

They're Not Even Trying To Hide It Anymore

Quote:U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem appeared to take a step toward circumventing federal laws that bar the military from taking part in domestic law enforcement in a letter she sent to the Department of Defense Sunday as the National Guard was deployed to Los Angeles amid mass protests over immigration raids.

In a letter obtained by The San Francisco Chronicle, Noem wrote to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that the Pentagon should direct military forces "to either detain, just as they would at any federal facility guarded by military, lawbreakers under Title 18 until they can be arrested and processed by federal law enforcement, or arrest them."

The Posse Comitatus Act prohibits the military from taking part in domestic law enforcement without the authorization of Congress.

Quote:The secretary indicated in her letter to Hegseth that she would send a formal request in the coming days. She also called for "the transportation of munitions" from Fort Benning and Wyoming, but did not say what the weapons would be used for.

The hearing is set for Thursday, so hopefully that will put an end to this nonsense.

Been there, done that, got a " we descened into fascism" T-shirt.

The problem with posse commitatus is: the Congress has to approve or decline.

You gotta ask yourself one question now: what is Congress most likely to do? Who exactly has a majority, and, based on recent experience, what is Congress most likely going to do?

Sounds pretty safe, doesn't it?

His pet Congress will let him go ahead with it.

Quote:COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A Republican South Carolina House member who prosecutors say used the screen name “joebidennnn69” has been arrested and charged with 10 counts of distributing sexual abuse material involving children.

RJ May was arrested Wednesday at his Lexington County home after a lengthy investigation and is scheduled to appear in federal court on Thursday.

[...]

May was one of the House’s more vocal members after he arrived, frequently criticizing bills and discussing conservative amendments.

“We as legislators have an obligation to insure that out children have no harm done to them,” May said in January 2024 on the House floor during a debate on transgender care for minors.
