teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Basically, identifying as a gender that doesn't correspond to their biological sex was assigned as birth to an employer or governmental entity is punishable by either a jail sentence between 180 days and two years, or a fine of up to $10,000.

Fortunately, it hasn't passed yet, and hasn't even gotten into committee yet.

Text of the Bill here.

Finally, a bit of common sense pushing back against the endless parade of identity politics nonsense. This “Gender Identity Fraud” bill isn’t just some political stunt; it’s a clear message that biology still matters, no matter how much some want to pretend otherwise.

The bill’s penalties aren’t about cruelty; they’re about holding people accountable for misrepresenting something as fundamental as gender. It’s surprising that this even needs stating in this day, but here we are, with progressives insisting that self-declared identity trumps objective reality.

Of course, the usual crowd will scream “bigotry” and “oppression,” throwing around their emotional buzzwords like confetti. But laws exist to protect facts, not feelings, and society can’t function if we just let personal whims rewrite reality.

All told, this bill is a welcome pushback against the chaos identity ideology has caused. I’m curious to see how loudly the outrage machine revs up in response.

Existing fraud statutes already cover what this bill attempts to make illegal. How such a bill is about "gender identity fraud" when the text of the bill doesn't ever mention or define gender is a bit mysterious.

Says a guy who is throwing around emotional buzzwords like "something as fundamental as gender" and "identity politics".

Your objection is noted, though I fear it rather misses the mark. “Something as fundamental as gender” is not an emotional buzzword, but a recognition of biological reality—a concept that, until very recently, was not remotely controversial outside the seminar room.

Likewise, “identity politics” is a term so widely accepted that it has its own Wikipedia page, academic literature, and enthusiastic champions on your side of the aisle. If its mention causes discomfort, I suspect it has less to do with the phrase itself and more to do with what it implies when held up to scrutiny.

But do proceed—if there’s a more precise, less "emotional" vocabulary you’d prefer, I’m quite happy to oblige. Words, after all, are tools. I merely ask that we use them honestly.

Gender Identity is nothing new. It's just something the whiney far-right wants to latch onto because they hate recognizing others who are different.

For a guy who likes to look at Wikipedia, you should also look up gender and learn that it not a biological concept.

I didn't say that gender politics doesn't exist but that you don't know what it is and thus use it wrongly.

How delightful, the Wikipedia Gambit, deployed with such earnestness. You’ll forgive me for smiling, but the assertion that gender has “nothing” to do with biology is not only historically illiterate but also contradicted by most major medical, psychological, and anthropological frameworks until about five minutes ago, relatively speaking.

To your second point: I’m intrigued by your confidence in my alleged ignorance of identity politics. If you believe I’ve misused the term, by all means—enlighten me. Offer a definition, not a declaration. If you can explain it better than its practitioners do, I’ll be the first to applaud.

But let’s be honest: what irks you isn’t the terminology—it’s that someone is using your language more clearly than you’d prefer.

Progressives may or may not have gone too far. This is a recent issue which is still being debated. So to say that conservatives are on the side of reality is just begging the question which is in dispute.

As for this issue being a threat to society at large, how exactly? It doesn't seem like a big threat to me, considering the percentage of people involved.

Finally, if you are looking for people who are misrepresenting reality, I personally would start with climate change deniers. Climate change is having a much greater impact on society in terms of chaos than whether we are nice to a few trans people or not.
