Texas introduces a bill to create a new crime: Gender Identity Fraud.

Basically, identifying as a gender that doesn't correspond to their biological sex was assigned as birth to an employer or governmental entity is punishable by either a jail sentence between 180 days and two years, or a fine of up to $10,000.

Fortunately, it hasn't passed yet, and hasn't even gotten into committee yet.

Finally, a bit of common sense pushing back against the endless parade of identity politics nonsense. This “Gender Identity Fraud” bill isn’t just some political stunt; it’s a clear message that biology still matters, no matter how much some want to pretend otherwise.

The bill’s penalties aren’t about cruelty; they’re about holding people accountable for misrepresenting something as fundamental as gender. It’s surprising that this even needs stating in this day, but here we are, with progressives insisting that self-declared identity trumps objective reality.

I think the more people worry about gender identification, the closer society get to restricting ANY body modification - piercings, tattoos, etc. This becomes more of a concern as religious loonies acquire political influence, as one of their themes about gender affirming  care is, ‘You should be happy with the body God gave you.

Where does it end? No organ transplants? No chemo for cancer patients? No vision correction?

And before certain persons in this thread accuse me of committing a slippery slope fallacy, please remember that, in theocratic societies, some slope are VERY slippery indeed.

Fun Fact: if you remember seeing pictures of Nazi book burnings, they were probably taken on 10 May 1933, and a good-sized portion of the books on the fire came from the library of Magnus Hirschfeld's Institute For Sexual Science, one of the first, if not the first, institutions to take trans folk seriously. And among those destroyed books were all their research into the trans phoenomenon, so post-war researchers had to restart it all from scratch.
