I wouldn't use them (or any other source) unless they cited their sources, and those sources were reputable.

Which is why they are given to you as a reference starting point... Facepalm

Yes, and that's the difference between such sites and wnd.com. If a claim doesn't have a proper citation, it should automatically be treated as suspect.

well i believe i have researched a lot of good historical documents. they did exist and they are acknowledged by historians. it's good evidence from credible historians of the time. as for the shroud of turin, i can't wait until they try their new carbon dating method on it and see what the result on it is. i don't care if it's legitimate or not but it will be interesting if it is. if they date it to around the time of Jesus it will end the whole controversy about it being a fraud.
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

You'll never learn anything until you take off the jesus blinders.

Sadly, I don't see you ever becoming rational, chippy.

Perhaps you should stop putting your faith in the word of others in the first place?

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

i shouldn't put faith in scientists? good idea

No, you'd rather believe in your own bullshit.

Everytime one of you assholes trots out the "many historians" argument I always ask "what is their EVIDENCE." Even Bart Ehrman has a surprisingly lackluster answer to that question.

Trotting out xtian mythology and saying it is evidence is horseshit. There is a pile of Greek mythology too and that isn't evidence, either.

No, you shouldn't "put your faith in scientists"...that's a pretty sure way to get conned by anyone claiming to be a scientist (which you clearly have been).

And no, you shouldn't "put your faith" in historical documents, they require no faith. You might want to take a more skeptical glance at the documents you think support the existence of jesus, but if you were going to do that we wouldn't be so many pages into this would we?

what do we know about history outside documents? what you say is saying we can't know history because we can't trust historical documents.
