Quote:And to those who believe in eternal torment: Why would God do something like that?God doesn't want us in eternal torment. That's why he sent his son Jesus to die in our stead. By giving into our selfish desires we choose and deserve eternal torment. But he takes our sentence and gives us eternal life. All we have to do is accept the gift. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life." Romans 6:23 "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." No Cake, I don't believe in any of the revealed religions. Not that I haven't in the past. But I do believe in God and the demons. I just don't know how demons operate. Demons are what you become if you end up an die evil. If you die good you go with God. No punishment whatsoever. Thqts my belief. I was just wandering about Jehovah's witnesses and those similar to them, why do they believe that eternal torment means eternal death. If you don't exist seems to me that you can't be tormented. Unless of course one could insert ...
"From the Stars we come, and to the Stars we return" But then, this is a recent discovery made by science. "The Universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements: energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest." G'Kar-B5

People can create a belief system in any way they please, regardless of rhyme or reason. Much in the same way that you have. Asking why they set it up that way generally leads to a long historical journey ending with some random person who either was delusional or decided to just make up some bullshit one day. That's oversimplified, but there you have it.
If you want the details of their system, go ask them or look it up. RE: Can bible really be interpreted as if there is no torment but you cease to exist

Yo Pel Wake up man! Jehovah Witness???? Who gives a shit what they think! The very fact that you would even contemplate anything that these crazed lunatics would have to say about anything is a complete waste of time and mental energy. Hell does not exist, only in the minds of people who dwell in it. It is all psychological, within, not "out there" in the ether of the universe you deluded simpleton.
You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.
There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting. Buddha RE: Can bible really be interpreted as if there is no torment but you cease to exist
