I've always been rather disappointed that Jesus is not portrayed with a sense of humour. I mean the bloke is SUCH a fucking misery guts, it's really depressing
I was thinking about his upbringing (common as muck) and the company he kept.(even more common) I can see Jesus sitting around the camp fire with his disciples, after a hearty meal of bread and lentils, enjoying and telling fart jokes. "Hi im Jesus and welcome to jackass!"
I liked the story where Jesus killed the fig tree after discovering figs weren't in season when he was hungry
I understand it was an illustration of how if you have enough faith you can do anything, but it seemed an absurd choice of action. I can appreciate it being used as a demonstration of what he was trying to teach, but why kill it? Couldn't the same lesson be taught by making the tree bear fruit out of season rather than killing it? http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?sea...ersion=KJV
Guess he didn't know enough agricultural science eh?? After all "he was" common as muck

Genesis 17:16. "I will bless her, and moreover, I will give you a son by her.” 17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said to himself, “Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”
So, a bit of slapstick and irony. Obviously a brave man Abraham!
A sensible man should not demand of me, or hope that when we mention a subject, we shall make a complete exposition of it. - Maimonides

Recently watched the John Huston classic "The Bible"
In it Huston plays the part of Noah, and hams it up as much as he can get away with. The classic line is when his wife asks him what they should feed the lions and tigers and his reply is milk, afterall they're just big pussycats. That's pretty much religion in a nutshell isn't it? If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71. RE: Bible is Funny!
