You don't have a choice about your milk Shell. You take it the way public health policy demands or you're on he wrong side of the law.
"it may fall under neglect and I would back such a policy if it came about, but only for certain vaccinations"
" I am against policy making parents do it, no matter what the circumstances."

Listen, Rhythm, you can't quote a fucking policy as if it makes me a hypocrite. I already said I don't give a fuck if people kill themselves with milk. Like I said, it "may" fall under neglect, which is an established policy. If it were to extend to say, "Hey, this absolutely deadly disease is ravishing our country and it would be neglectful not to do it." I might back such policy. However, it does not force the parent to do it. It puts them in a position of being labeled neglectful if they do not. I don't have to feed my kids. No one will force feed my kids. However, when my kids get noticeably starved, I can be charged with neglect.

Which forces the parent to vaccinate, or face child services. Essentially, you're not for forcing someone to do something, just for forcing someone to do something or suffer (what I hope would be) unthinkable consequence as a result of their actions (which is all any legislation about anything can possibly do anyway). What I don't understand here, is why vaccination ends up in this grey area to begin with. It's simple, it's effective, it's beneficial, the risks of not vaccinating are very well understood, etc etc etc.
You're allowed to have mixed opinions, hell, even contradictory opinions on any given issue Shell, I wouldn't call you a hypocrite for it (and have I ever called you a hypocrite?) After a few pages of this, and the hysterics shit trotted out again I'd just like a little recognition that I haven't been talking into the wind all this time.
(child services will have your children force fed btw, even if they don't want to be, even if you don't want them to be, if they find them in a state of severe malnourishment, possibly through a feeding tube. They may even sedate the little bastards)
You know, I think I've figured it out here. In your many replies you keep saying things like "I don't care if someone kills themselves with milk" or arguing that a person can do whatever they please with their own body. I disagree, but that's irrelevant, because with both milk and vaccination we're not just talking about someones own body. Public health, the public implies more than 1.

That isn't the issue though. Quote: We manage to keep most of these diseases under control despite people being able to refuse vaccinations.
Not always Shell, read a book called Deadly Choices and you will see. Quote: I keep hearing, "If we don't make them, a pandemic will occur and millions will die!" Okay, we already don't make them. Where are the millions dying of diseases for which there are vaccinations?
I didn't say that so why are you asking me to answer?

Reread what I said to your sister and stop being foolish. I was referring to her refusal of the flu vaccine.

Believe the "millions will die" bit was probably directed at me.
Those millions are already dead. That is precisely why we go through so much effort to develop vaccines, and precisely what they are designed to prevent. Don't ask me where they are, they're under your feet.

What I don't quite understand is where she is getting her wrong information from. There have been quite a few epidemics where people have died since the first vaccine was invented in 1796.
She seems to forget that people travel to places where the disease is endemic and get it there then even though it isn't endemic to the US they bring it back and outbreaks start as can be seen in the Measles outbreak of 2003 in a PA boarding school (started by a 17 year old that visited Beirut).

My uncle Chuck got polio after the vaccine was already in circulation (but before he was old enough to receive it). Guess how.

It's none of your business if Tommy or Tammy up the street has AIDS. Absolutely none of your business.
And that is exactly the reason I am not as 'easy' as I seem. Assholes who won't tell me they have AIDS before we engage in unprotected sex (Hey, I'm a transwoman and can't get pregnant. Fuck condoms and dental dams before being told that they have an otherwise 'invisible' STD.)
Also... fuck sex in the darkness.

Hell, I realized that the flu was around before I caught it. I thought I'd been reasonably cautious, but then other people don't have the same values as I do (self-quarantine to contain the spread of contagion).
Pretty much I can't trust idiots to not do retarded shit that will likely bite me in the ass. Which really sucks, since I had been planning on hanging out with a few friends of mine before I got sick. Wish people would quarantine themselves like I do when sick.
Speaking of sickness... I can't wait to catch whatever strain of sickness will pop up at the setnet site this summer.

False analogy;type 2 diabetes is at least partly a lifestyle disease. It is not communicable, which is THE point about diseases against which we vaccinate.

Padriac, Perhaps you should read that whole post as it was referring to paying for diseases not catching them. I am by far an idiot when it comes to healthcare as it is after all my job to be educated in this field. But thank you for pointing out that type II diabetes is not contagious. Phew! I was completely worried that I might catch it while doling out insulin shots!
