Ok, rant time. I know that what the soldier did was horribly wrong but who the hell are these fucktards doing telling us this? Isn't this the pot calling the skittle black? They go on a killing and burning rampage because a few books were burned. The soldier goes on a rampage because he has psychological problems. Problems that were probably caused by the shit he had to deal with in Afghanistan. If you look at what caused the rampages aren't you looking at two different things? I'm sick of these hypocritical asswipes. Ok, rant over. Again, it's not that I don't think that the soldier didn't do anything wrong, this should be obvious. It's the blatant hypocrisy I have issue with.
I have studied the Bible and the theology behind Christianity for many years. I have been to many churches. I have walked the depth and the breadth of the religion and, as a result of this, I have a lot of bullshit to scrape off the bottom of my shoes. ~Ziploc Surprise

I'm sure that the guy had some buddy of his killed by the Taliban. He probably got furious, and wanted revenge on the natives, so he opened fire on some civis in hopes of downing a few of their relatives.

What civvies? Hasn't been that kind of engagement. "The civvies" are just the ones that haven't pulled the RPG out of their burkas....yet. They are obstructions to direct fire.

Mehmet, you don't realize how right you are.
On 9-11 a whole bunch of guys lost buddies and we have essentially been killing muslims at random ever since. Be happy that Turkey is a NATO member....probably kept you out of the crosshairs!

Saddened? Yes. Shocked or surprised and calling for some grunts head? No. In war shit happens, especially in a guerilla war where the enemy are plain clothed irregulars. That woman or child could be holding a grenade. The military and politicians (on all sides) are aware of the reality. They express a disingenuous outrage to calm the fuckwitted /humbug civilians and to gain political advantage.

Pffft...Like we're really grateful that the almighty USA chose to spare us because we're a NATO member...
I wish we had been out of the NATO as soon as the cold war ended.
Like we have now a bunch of NATO bases in Turkey, and the US soldiers never really went around doing the shit they've been doing during the cold war - where they essentially went around angering the locals, now they are more polite than ever.

Well, if you were really facing an organized force of patriotic afghans...I'd say that you should even fear the women, however, what you're facing there is essentially a NATO-bred, rogue construct of power hungry extremists, who are happy to slaughter their own kind. In short, I think that Afghanistan is experiencing a sort of civil strife, much like during the old Soviet days. It's just now the case that the tables have turned.
