Now which type was the more expensive one to own again?

Macs age at an identical rate.

No, simply not true.

PCs are worse, in that respect. Try keeping stuff from 20 different PC brands compatible Big Grin

The point is precisely that Macs don't have to be upgraded every year, while PCs do.

Quote:Residual value is a joke too, no one wants a 5 yr old mac. Big Grin

Who cares about residual value when you can save yourself buying three new PCs by getting one good Mac?

I think exactly the same, especially about Apple's ridiculous overpricing, you pay for the name not for the technology.

Exactly: you think!
So it's not based on real life experience.
A.k.a. bias.

@fr0d0: My MacBook is almost 2.5 years old and I still love it. The only reason I'm upgrading this year is because AppleCare runs out after 3 years. I also still have an iPad 1.

Standard PC warranty is also 3yrs. How old is XP? Yet it's still supported. What is the equivalent version of ios? I'm setting up 10yr old hardware with XP today for a friend. Where do you get this nonsense that Apple machines have greater longevity? It's simply fabrication.

I like ios. Competition is always good. Let's stick to the truth.

An ipad1? Points and laughs Big Grin

I didn't argue they had greater longevity. I hold they have the same longevity. Yes, Windows XP is still supported, but an upgrade to to the next version of OS X costs $30, rather than Microsoft's extortionate amount. There is no reason for anyone to still be using the original version of Mac OS X (10.0 Cheetah) when it costs so little to upgrade.

Cheesy little indie games don't count. Mac got Valve games way after PC. They got TF2 like 4 years after and L4D2 like 3.... Pathetic.

I never said Mac was better at playing some games. I said that a lot of new games are supported, which is true. I don't see why we should discount indie games either.

Lol because why would you want an iPhone port on your computer when PC is playing a new blockbuster title?
I'm not saying Mac is shit, but as a gamer it doesn't make since. I'd hate wondering if a game I had been waiting for was going to be deved for Mac...

You're right in saying that it will catch up eventually an most big companies like Blizzard and Valve will support both of the bat now. Slightly smaller firms or groups that don't care will continue to ignore Mac though...

The argument for indie games:

I spent £45 on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, and I played it for about 10 hours.
I spent £5 on VVVVVV and played it for weeks...religiously.

Indie games: Better, cheaper, and work on far more platforms.
