I came across a phrase describing such people (EG Holocaust deniers, 9/11 truthers, moon landing deniers and similar fruitcakes)

"A mile wide and one inch thick"

Holocaust deniers are those white supremacists and they are off of their rocker anyway. I sometimes wonder if Bush knew of some threat before 9/11. I doubt he was responsible for it but I have seen videos of what hit the Pentagon. It wasn't a plane. You can't find a list of the people who died on the "plane" that hit the pentagon. Basically you can't find any information on it.

THAT is probably the dumbest thing you've said so far.

A video? Oh please. You are a trained forensic scientist? How on earth would you know?

In all, there were 189 casualties at the Pentagon site, including 125 in the Pentagon building and 64 on board Flight 77. Passenger Barbara Olson was en route to a taping of Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher.[41] A group of children, their chaperones, and National Geographic Society staff members were also on board, embarking on an educational trip west to the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary near Santa Barbara, California.[42] The fatalities at the Pentagon included 55 military personnel and 70 civilians.[43] Of those 125 killed, 92 were on the first floor, 31 were on the second floor, and two were on the third.[44] The Army suffered 75 casualties -- far more than any other branch. Another 106 injured were treated at area hospitals.[44] Lieutenant General Timothy Maude, an Army Deputy Chief of Staff, was the highest ranking military officer killed at the Pentagon.[45]

YUp ... I'd agree with that!

Yeah and some of them are atheist ... I'd genuinely like to believe that atheism is the product of an intelligent outlook, I think it is with me, but these people seem to deny that. Indeed I've noticed that evangelisers of all stripes use much the same techniques ... GW-deniers, holocaust deniers, 911 truthers, moon landing CT'ers, UFO CT'ers, Mac & Linux evangelisers (no Adrian I am not pointing the finger) as well as creationists and other wingnut theists.

I heard an interesting item testerday on the radio. The story goes that a piece of " moonrock " that was presented to a Dutch museum by an American ambassador back in 1969 has been found to be wood ( putrified or some other term I can't remenber ) and certainly of this planet.
Any body heard it and heard any explanation?

Looks like NASA either cocked up or tried to dupe them. Apparently they've given moon rocks to 100 other countries (without complaint), but this one was thought to be from the original Apollo 11 trip. Evidently not Big Grin

I think the only conspiracy here is why NASA gave them petrified wood. Was it a mistake, or was it on purpose?

Isn't it more likely the one of the Dutch officials was the one duping someone or making a mistake? Is there any official (NASA) confirmation of the validating phone call? Just thoughts!

There is so much controversy regarding the moon landing...people discriminating the pictures supposedly taken on the moon with shadows pointing in the wrong direction and such...

Well the "moon rock" was given to the President by the three Apollo 11 astronauts. It was only given to the museum when the President died. Perhaps the better question is whether someone fucked up the transfer of the rock from the President to the museum Big Grin

Willem Drees was one of the most respected and popular prime ministers (we do not have presidents) the Netherlands ever had. In the nationwide poll for the greatest Dutchman in history he ended third, after the founder of the Netherlands William of Orange, and Pim Fortuyn (who had been shot just shortly before that poll so that tainted the poll quite a bit).

I believe it was a genuine mistake by either by NASA or the museum got some specimens mixed up or something. I doubt the US would deliberately dupe one of it allied nations so shortly after the war by making a mockery out of one of the most beloved leaders the Netherlands ever had.
