hey man, that sounds like shotty work at it's best ... a proper 2x fascia (not a 1x6 that will warp and wear away quickly) and a drip edge properly run under the paper would help avoid that. well, the good part is that bad workmanship is known as job security for those of us in the know.

It was really bad. There was plywood over top of 1 x sheathing. We had to cut out the bad plywood and the rotted 1x's and replace both. Not really a hard job but time consuming. We also had to take down the front of the siding and repair the sheathing that rotted away from water damage. If the previous roofers had spent about an extra hour's time to install a 2x6 fascia, all of that damage would have been avoided. It's like you said, it's the crappy workmanship that keeps us in business. Job Security!

We did a roof once in Delaware Ohio where we were dive bombed by bats! We got out of there pretty quick!

I’m in Corpus Christi, TX on San Padre Island for the next year. I headed down the road a couple of weeks ago to the National Seashore and managed to get a few bird pictures despite it not really being bird season around here.
