Sir Greneknight of the Round Table and Sir RaphielDrake will be fighting a battle in the Formal Debate section. Come one, come all to witness the BATTLE OF THE CENTURY!!!

We're ironing out the details at the moment!!!!!!

For fuck sake Grene. We discussed this. Please drop the knight thing and stop announcing everything before it happens.
Its just silly. If you have to do it at least don't rope me into the whole roleplay thing.
Seriously, I'm not into it.

But yeah. One on one debate over the definition of Christianity sounds fine.
Just waiting for you to confirm with Tibs and it should be set.
Unlikely much will happen tonight becauses its 12 here and I've got alot of work to do.

I've written to you but since you are here, I'll just address you here. You suggested "The definition of Christianity" but that is too broad and it doesn't seem to advocate anything so it's not suitable as a debate topic.

As you will recall, the reason for this debate is I called myself a CHristian and you objected to that. So you are saying it's not legitimate for me to call myself a CHristian if I don't believe in a God being which I don't. I have made it clear I reject the supernatural entirely.

So the motion of the debate should read:

"It is not legitimate for a person who does not believe in the supernatural to call himself a Christian".

You will propose the motion and I'll oppose it. We'll use an assortment of medieval weapons.

If you are agreeable to that, let's decide on the other details eg timing. I am ok with that - it depends on what kind of timing you want. How many rounds should each party have?

Oh, this is so exciting!!!! Finally, Sir Greneknight gets to go into battle. My battle horse was getting tired of the inaction.

For God and Queen!

Ok well now your just making statements we haven't even discussed and giving topics we didn't agree on. I thought "The definition of Christianity" or "My Religion" were perfectly valid, unbiased topics with alot of wiggling room.
Could you please stop releasing statements we didn't agree upon?
Infact could we actually stop making this public until the actual debate is decided and started?
This is seriously just cringe making.

If you want to know how the debates work go over to the debate rules section. I've already sent a message to Tibs and he'll be needing confirmation from yourself.

A quick search through your threads and posts shows a lot of contrast. How are you a Christian if you don't believe in Christianity nor do you believe in the supernatural (i.e. God, Jesus)?

Oh wait, you've said yourself that you're still a Christian not because you believe in God but because you were raised that way and it's cultural. And you have a nice feeling in church. And you know what? You're not a Christian. You're somebody who doesn't believe in God and doesn't accept the bible as truth but claims to be a Christian. THEN, we have you saying you enjoy watching WLC destroy people in arguments, but later say he lies.

But, in that forum, you wrote:

Just wanted to know how you would reconcile the two statements above.

tl;dr You're claiming to be a Christian because it's tradition. Like it's meaningless. You've said that God is just a metaphor and that the bible is full of shit. You don't believe in the supernatural, but you say Jesus is God, contrasting your previous claim that God is a metaphor.

To my worthy Opponent, Sir RaphielDrake,

The motion for a debate cannot merely be "My Religion" or "The Definition of Christianity". It must take a stand so there can be a proposer of the motion and an Opposing party. Don't forget that we need a proposing party and an opposing party. You can ask older knights about this. I have fought many battles and have old battle scars to prove this, so you should take my word for it.

I would suggest a simple proposition eg. "Christianity necessitates a belief in the supernatural" and I beg leave, my fellow knight, to oppose the motion. It is a simple enough motion but it draws the battle lines clearly.

If you approve this, please send a missive to me by pigeon and I will beseech His Majesty Tiberius to make available for our use the Gladiators' Arena whereat we may proceed to do fierce battle to defend honour and the truth.

In the meanwhile, Sir, I beg to remain

Your Honourable and Worthy Opponent,

Sir Greneknight, a valiant Knight of the Order of the Round Table.

Everything you said above is correct. But you are wrong to say I enjoy watching WLC destroy people in arguments. I may be surprised to see him destroying some people's arguments but I don't enjoy it. I would like very much to be able to engage in a debate with WLC and I believe, unworthy though I may be in the debating arena, I should be able to tear him to bits. I have never praised WLC. You can search all my posts anywhere on the internet. I have always expressed nothing but utter contempt for WLC. WLC is a liar, a fool, a bigot and an arrogant pig. I am assuming WLC is the village idiot William Lane Craig.

Because God is a metaphor for goodness, of course Jesus is God. That means Jesus is goodness. But let's be clear here. Jesus is the concept of a good chappie painted and created by the church. I'm not defending the historicity of Jesus. Although I think he probably did exist, I can't be certain nor do I care. But the image of Jesus created by the church is what I'm talking about because there, I was referring to a Gospel passage. I'll give you an example. If Goldilocks is a metaphor for INNOCENCE, and I say Little Red Riding Hood is Goldilocks, what I'm saying is that the character in that story is innocent. I'm not saying Little Red Riding Hood or Goldilocks is a true historical figure. I hope that is clear. It's hard for some people to understand this because they are too used to living with people who think Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks are ACTUAL divine beings.

I have already explained this. God is a metaphor for goodness. Let me pick a more mature example than Little Red Riding Hood. If I say Cordelia in King Lear is God, I'm not saying God really exists or Cordelia really existed.

I hope this is clear to you. Soon, you may follow my battle with Sir RaphielDrake.

With that, Sir, I take your leave and I remain

Yours in service to the Queen,

Sir Greneknight of the Order of the Round Table

I don't believe there's a law against cowards laughing. Don't forget, Lion. You suggested a few Christians debating with me alone and I agreed to it. Then Godschild fled and you fled with him. I suggest you call yourself "Pussycat IRC". It will always be a blot on your honour that you ran away from a debate with a 13 year old. You, godschild and the whole pack of Christian cowards. Thank God for atheists like RaphielDrake, without whom me and my battle horse would be bored stiff.

I mean thanks very much for... thanking God but why would you tell me not to joke about your age then mention it here frequently?
Thats just counter-productive, you have to know you've just made that fair game for others.

For your own sake will please just stop posting on this thread before it turns into a "lets fuck with greneknight" thread. Seriously.
Tiberius suggested another subject and said he'd be glad to moderate which I agree with and I have forwarded you the mail to respond to.
