Come Chanuka, I'm sure I'll have more spending cash to get one. I want to have one before I attempt to go to London (attempt #2) in the spring. I'm looking at a 3100 at the moment. It would help if I could get my 8800 working in the meantime, even if it's only 8mpx. I'm having a shitty time finding a replacement lithium battery for it though.

Your boyfriend is a photographer, right? You should have him give you a couple of lessons on DSLR so you'll know exactly how to use one when you get one. Plus, shooting on a DSLR is a bit of an experience. I wish a had a few hundred dollars laying around for another lens or two; I'd love a wide angle lens.

He shoots on Canon (I'm still a Nikon snob) but yes, he gives me full access to both his dslr and his slr. Did you think there was only one extending tool of his I was allowed to touch?

Haha, I think you should try the SLR. Learning film first really puts a good perspective on things, I'm very glad that's how I learned.

I've been reading up on it before I go wasting money on film, side by side with studying digital stuff. It's hard dividing my time between plants and photography and sewing.

Yeah, I had to learn photo. I know a lot of graphic designers who don't, but that's like working with one hand bound.
