Then don't travel, why wouldn't you just take this as a sign that they don't want you too travel by air for awhile. Maybe there's a bigger problem at hand, then your right to get to Venice, as quickly as possible.

Hmmm... Lily, I know TSA agents can only search members of the same sex. When I forgot my ID at home, they let me through, but I got the extensive pat-down, by a female TSA agent. I was traveling with my son, who was likewise patted-down by a male officer. Makes me wonder who pats down transexuals? Just wondering if you, or anyone else, knows what TSA's policies are for this?

They operate by the gender stated on what constitutes federal identifications is what I'd hazard.

Worst case (that is for trans) is that they use some form of database that operates off of birth certificate gender.

Though, all in all, I don't think anyone, straight, gay, trans, etc would enjoy being patted down or searched by a surly TSA groper.

Personally? I'm more worried about their x-ray machines than I am a pat down. I mean, tight panties and a good job tucking and I can keep things hidden pretty well, but as for the x-ray machine, everything is in full-view for them. It's gotta be even worse for trans men who are packing; the x-ray machine gives plain view of their packer but when they're being pat down, you can easily feel the straps that you hold it on with (depending on how you pack, anyway).

Still, last time I used air travel, I wanted to go with the patdown instead of the x-ray. Problem was, if I did the x-ray, I'm in and out fast but if I sit and wait on the pat down, I'd have to sit and wait for quite a while. It was kinda absurd. Although, at first, I volunteered for the pat down, that's when things slowed down. I suspect my gender identity played a roll in it since you can tell I look pretty female and my name has been changed but my ID still says 'male' on it. I changed my mind and went with the x-ray machine when I saw things grind to a halt. What I really wanted to do was order one of these t-shirts with a messge that appears when viewed by the x-ray machines, and just show the TSA people the fourth amendment.
