Shot Malala Yousafzai recovering

RE: Shot Malala Yousafzai recovering
A goal celebration in football after you've scored doesn't bother me so much in fairness. It's the people who constantly thank god in press interviews, people like Mike Tyson and Tim Tebow come to mind.

She has just had a 5 hour operation and is recovering well. She gave thanks to god and all the people who prayed for her... no mention of the skills of the doctors who saved her life.

While I am glad she is recovering, I think her thanks are misplaced

How come her fucking "god" let her get shot in the first place?

Because American/European outrage is doing a whole bunch in India, is it? Sleepy A billion people in relatively close proximity, most of them in poverty... relatively nearby to another billion people, many of whom are also in poverty... and another few hundred million people clumped together in asia, a good number of them living in poverty...

Nope, I don't see how rape statistics of these places are related. India in particular has a number of factors going on right now that make it significant... dealing with the symptoms in blind outrage is going to do fuck all for solving India's many problems. Levitate

You... do realize this has nothing to do with gods, and everything to do with how a culture reacts to its children being threatened with death vs a random bus driver being shot? Tongue

Bus driver shot! Not really news for the front page, it's something you'd put in a tiny square in tiny print without an exclamation.

Assume for a moment that he exists. Have you done that? Cool:

Why the fuck would he prevent his father from smiting the living shit out of the random person?

There are so few people hit by lightning per year, that if he IS infact doing that: he's doing a damn good job.

FYI, in this video she says she recovered due to the prayers of people and the "talent of doctors".

She's also still dedicated to helping educate girls and women. She is an awesome human being.

I don't begrudge her religious expression. She came from a part of the world where not making such vacuous pronouncements could shorten one's life. Having been shot once she is not to be blamed for not wanting to be shot again.

Violet, I am aware of all this. Crime is always going to be a ratio to some degree everywhere.

Yes that is the real reason people react, just about every species protects its young, not just humans. But that does not mean people need to cling to superstition as a false comfort when their kids do get harmed.

No it isn't.

If superstition is providing them comfort, how exactly is it false, and who are you to know what they need?

I know of a lot of species who eat or kill their young, humans among them in some cases. I know plenty others who simply abandon them, or who die before they would ever have had a chance to protect them Tongue

Thank the FBI SWAT team that risked their lives...not some fucking non-existent "god."

The doctors did not need any help from a bunch of assholes praying.
