Not ashamed anymore.

So as far as a 1v1 on this topic, no point, we are not talking about life and death here. You don't like ABBA as being serious musicians. Ok. I think they were underestimated and under appreciated and extremely talented.

I swear, women take everything I say personally. Wasn't talking to you, gurl Tongue

Oh, I think they were serious about being 'musicians'... but it isn't on me that their success is more due to their spot-on understanding of musical theory than to their less than stellar level of talent Sleepy

As for the evolution comment... if caring were not a requirement, my mom would have simply left me to die after I was born Tongue

Sister, I'ma gonna have to spank you girl! There's nothing questionable about the musicianship or compositional abilities here. Lyrically my kids could do better before they learned to talk, but who cares about that!

I wasn't sure what he meant by 'serious musician'. I only mean 'someone who plays and maybe writes music'. Compositionally they're not fantastic, but all the sets together is usually very well done. As a band, they did well enough, and covered up for their 'talent' (the real question Wink ).

Lyrically... garbage. Trash. About the same as 90% of the other bands typically manage.

Thanks dude. Now I have to spend the next couple hours un-sticking my keyboard.

No one is trying to claim that their lyrics were Shakespeare. But really they were talented musicians, and singers.

No, they really were learned musicians and singers. I'm not about to consider their rather lacking abilities on-level with truly fantastic artists Tongue

I'm not saying they were talentless, only that their talents did not stretch far.

Their melodies were wonderful. As good as there is. And this is art and appreciation is always subjective.

mmmm, their melodies are jarring. it's when they bring all the instruments together that it becomes good. Until then? It's intentionally jarring to draw you in with the chorus.

There is some magic in the voices. I might understand you might find the tone jarring. I don't. I love it. Instruments? Never noticed them. Hook lines, sure. Melody is something else, and the guys have a genius for it.
