How about "immortal essence"? "Consciousness relates to "conscious", ie "alive".
So soul in addition to consciousness also has immortal essence. But that of course is just another formulation of the claim that there is such a feature as soul or immortal essence. What is your evidence? 21 grams of immortality?

There is no evidence and there cannot be evidence, conveniently. But then we're not talking about something we ever required evidence of.

Very conveniently indeed.

So you would not require evidence for a purple rabbit in the 26th dimension? Let me warn you that conversion to Rabbitism requires some agonizing rituals and shaving of the head. Your fantastic hairdo will go!

You don't need convincement, nor logic, you only need belief.
I'll count you in then?

Boxxy - The soul is simply an ancient assumption about the nature of man, not at all rooted in scientific discovery.

There is no good reason to believe that a soul exists other than wishful thinking, the soul is in absolutely no way required to explain anything at all about the human condition so it's an utterly pointless assumption for one to make - the only reason you would do so is because you want there to be a soul, because it conforms to your preconceived fantasies about reality, but we all know that thinking in such a way is simply an act of futility - it is fine to entertain the idea or study the potential truth but at the end of the day you have to accept the following: The truth does not in the slightest give a damn about what we believe to be true or what we want to be true, only what is true - and that is something entirely external to our tiny role in the cosmic perspective.

No sorry I need to rationalise first. Why make an exception here? How can I?

Gloria in excelsis cuniculum!

Hail to the mighty rabbit that accidentally burped us into existence.

Feel free to attempt to rationalize it, but i don't hold high hopes for your abilities - we've all seen your justifications for God fr0d0, and they are amongst the most spineless and intellectually dishonest i have ever encountered.
