I really hate customers!

RE: I really hate customers!
Well, unfortunately my boss decided we'd better give him a refund. So I called him and said "we're going to give you a refund by EFT overnight", to which he started going on about how he refuses to give his account number, etc, and rattling on about fraud. Then he claimed that "consumer legislation says you have to put it back on my credit card", blah blah blah. So I said "no, if you want a refund we will do it by EFT, I can't do it by credit card". Then he said "yesterday when I came in to get my money ..." to which I replied "excuse me, but, YOUR money? I don't think so - yesterday, you came in to ask for a refund, which we've agreed to give you, it's not your money". Anyway the prick went and opened a "temporary account" at the bank and then left the account number with me - what a fucking idiot, he should be grateful he's getting anything at all. I would have much rather said to him "you're not getting a refund, either take delivery of your goods or collect them, and now leave the premises and do not come back unless you're collecting your goods".

Yesterday he wanted a partial refund for most of the goods, and to keep some of them - I made it clear he's getting a full refund, we want nothing to do with him, he's not getting anything from us again, he can take his business elsewhere! I have a feeling he'll come back after the refund and ask to buy the goods he didn't want refunded, he'll be told to leave and if he refuses the police will be called and he will be reported for trespassing.

I saw a dude physically attack one of my co-workers because she wouldn't let him return a PlayStation 2 two years after the return period and warranty date (note: this was a guy trying to return a fat PS2 model over a year after the slim model was debuted, it was obviously fraudulent).

I do not miss working at Wal-Mart in particular, and customer service in general. No faster way to develop solid misanthropy.

I hear that. Somedays I came from the toll despizing mankind. The shit that people pull off in there, from the famous girl giving Blowjob to the driver @ 4am, to restrain a guy from beating an old female coworker.

After all we were the "thiefs that were robbing people on the road"™ WTF man, there are national roads that you don't need to pay!

Jesus tits! You have an unhappy customer and your reaction is to call the fair trade office (whatever that is) and the police. Who monitors the phones at the fair trade office? Judge Dredd?

You never gave a reason why the customer wanted a refund. What was the contract of sale? Did the customer have a grievance, even if it didn't legally rise to the request of a refund? Did your business fulfill its end of the trade?

Without additional details I simply can't get past what appears to be an almost immediate reaction to call the police.

I used to be the manager of a pizza place, which was fun because part of being top dog in the store was being able to tell shitty customers to go fuck themselves. Had a couple of drunk dudes buy $60 worth of food and then insisted that they paid when they didn't. They started getting mouthy so I leaned over the counter and smacked all the food out of his hands and told them to get the fuck out.

Good times....

notalwaysright.com is an awesome website. I read it daily. On the converse, there's a sister site notalwaysworking.com.

I know working in retail or IT is pretty bad, but you've never experience total stupidity until you've answered the phones at your local police department.

When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Right now I have school and work and I can understand You somewhat.

Being at a store where all kinds of personalities can be found, You can get some very different people. For instance, I was just working the register 1 day... normal shift and all, when this older man approaches me.

I greeted him with a casual "hello" and that, and He starts correcting my fucking grammar because You know, apparently it is important and worth everyone's time!

If I remember correctly, I set him off when I said "have a good day" or maybe it was before that.

Anyways, I immediately apologized and his reaction was to tell me how awesome He is at English (university degree in English I suppose) and how his grandkids respect him. He was about as pompous as a lord from the stone-age and about as developed too.

As He went to make payment using his card, He complained to me that "the machine isn't working". The asshole had it propped in the slot... reversed. I told him, "you have it in backwards..." in a very dry tone and that left him utterly embarrassed and unclogged his shitplug too.

I had a customer come in and demand "their money". They of course have a right to ask politely if they could have a refund - but to come in and make demands, followed by threats of violence is just totally wrong.
Quote:You never gave a reason why the customer wanted a refund.
Because they changed their mind. Ordinarily we'll issue a refund - or write a note of store credit (depending on the length of time). BTW let me make this clear: change of mind does not give you any legal rights to get a refund - duh.

No the customer changed their mind, and believed that it was their right to come in and make demands. What's the contract of sale? The same contract as to any other sale in this country: all sales are final.
