The question of whether the internet is an indulgence is misleading.
Having a computer might be indulgent. But the indulgence, or unhealthy relationship with objects, isn't total. If a human uses a tool in self destructive, unhealthy way, it could be an indulgent action (or some other descriptor). If a human uses a tool to be constructive than it cannot be indulgent. The argument is over what is and is not unhealthy/destructive.
No, you know what the question was.
Using this example of the word indulgence: indulgence- /ɪnˈdʌldʒəns/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [in-duhl-juhns] Show IPA noun, verb, -genced, -genc⋅ing. –noun 1. the act or practice of indulging; gratification of desire. 2. the state of being indulgent. 3. indulgent allowance or tolerance. 4. a catering to someone's mood or whim; humoring: The sick man demanded indulgence as his due. 5. something indulged in: Her favorite indulgence was candy. 6. Roman Catholic Church. a partial remission of the temporal punishment, esp. purgatorial atonement, that is still due for a sin or sins after absolution. Compare plenary indulgence. 7. English and Scottish History. (in the reigns of Charles II and James II) a grant by the king to Protestant dissenters and Roman Catholics freeing them from certain penalties imposed, by legislation, because of their religion. 8. Commerce. an extension, through favor, of time for payment or performance. –verb (used with object) 9. Roman Catholic Church. to provide with an indulgence: an indulgenced pilgrimage to Rome. Origin: 1325–75; ME < L indulgentia. See indulge, -ence Quote:would you guys consider a computer and the internet to be indulgent?
Thank you friend, we know what the word indulgent means.
If I may repeat for the third time, morality is a human dimension. A computer and internet is not indulgent sitting on a stump somewhere. If a human chooses to use it in an indulgent manner, that it is. The answer is yes and no. Are we clear? Thanks. Yes, I have done this! Another fun game is to light a fire next to a propane tank then get about 100 yards away from it and shoot holes in it! Giant fireball! Woot! We mostly used our mini-14's and 45's with the biggest gun being my friend's 50 cal sniper rifle. Woof did that thing kick. I was glad that he spent the money on the shoulder padding!
