You should read the Bible, I recommend to read the New Testament first and ask questions lots of them.I know nothing about you or your past as far as religion goes, so I want to be careful not to say things that would discourage you or upset you. PM me if you feel you need some questions answered.

Yep, just ignore all the stuff about vengeful angry god man in the previous books and go straight for the (not so) airy fairy stuff in the NT.

Good recommendation bro.

RE: Try God...
I've had people try to sell me god in the mental hospital before. I never felt pressured, though. I just got the standard platitudes like "You may not believe in god, but he believes in you." I just told them it's not for me, and that was it.

Personally, I like feeling the pressure to convert, because it makes me feel even better about myself when I resist drinking the Jesus juice.

You could try explaining to people why that sort of advice is unwelcome and counter-productive for you. Friends/family should understand your feelings & respect your wishes. You don't have to care about anyone else's opinion, just insist that they stop peddling god to you in a time of crisis.

"Has mental health issues - people recommend the god treatment plan"

How many times a day do you take god, how effective is the god therapy, are there side effects? Just how much is it going to cost you and does insurance cover it as an option...and have you looked for a second opinion?

Well, the ones I met weren't so much using god as a cure as they were using it to give their illness a reason. They believed that god had a purpose for their psychological problems and that he would give them the strength to deal with it.

I know, I know...people are fucking strange.

THEN,I got a phone call from a friend while I was in the hospitals she was basically saying god is real because all the time I would have died but didn't.(suicide)Then I went into how I feel about everyone has a purpose and we are connected in a way.

The she said "What you said is exactly what the bible says" and I was like many religions have a common morale and she was like "No"

she also says that no religion can be proven you have to go by faith.

she also mentioned having a relationship god

It may not be to a high degree but I'm feeling a lot of pressure to convert and it annoying

Typical christian response: try to convert you. They're like the cybermen: YOU WILL BE UPGRADED!

RE: Try God...
thanks for the reply guys! I felt pressure but that won't put me on the Jesus band wagon. I'm going to grow and improve with my own will. I just needed to vent about it a bit to someone since I really don't have anyone to talk to about it.

I guess I'll ignore and not let it annoy me.

Doesn't that tell you all that you really need to know?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Just remember that religion is for the weak-minded who fear not believing more than anything else.

Also, if one must trick one's mind into believing something is real when there is obviously no evidence to support its existence, the Flying Spaghetti Monster is a much better choice than the Judeo-Christian god.

Enough reason for me to know that religion is bullshit.
