LOL. Looks like you delved into some of the online tellings of the Temple Endowment ceremony. I like the phrase, "Milk before meat". Giving a person all the "meat" up front tends to give them an upset stomach, but if a child begins with "milk", then the meat will not be so harsh once it is introduced.

That being said, I don't mind talking about the meat, but there are some things pertaining to the Endowment Ceremony that I have sworn an oath to stay silent about, lest I am within the walls of a Temple. Your describing the earth as a test made me think you have the same low regard for this life. (Glad to hear it if I'm wrong about that.) Low regard for life? I hope that's not how I sound. I regard human life as the very pinnacle of creation. (I also think God used evolution to get us to this point...perhaps we haven't finished evolving just yet?)

Ok, I have to admit that I like your online personality so far. The theists who join this site and are then insulted because we mock what they believe are really annoying - what did you expect. You seem to be able to handle it.

I spend a bit of time reading about mormons, and I have to admit that my primary reaction was: Believes a lot of crazy stuff...

The prophet one is the scariest. You are giving one man too much power. Are there any safeguards to ensure that the prophet does not go crazy and turns everyone into a psycho suicide cult or something? You don't sound like the type of sheep that will follow something like that, but what about the other sheep?

Women are encouraged to marry. I have no real problem with this (ok, I do. but that is more a personal thing) unless the encouragement is more forceful or people look down on those that are not married. How old are they when they are "encouraged" to marry? How are they encouraged to marry? What if they refuse?

As for the second question, I first plan on learning as much about the nature of Godhood as I possibly can. Omnipotence and Omniscience sound like daunting prospects, but I'm sure my new resurrected body can handle it. I'm sure the learning process will take a few hundred, if not a few thousand years...we learn so little in our short existence as flesh and blood, so picking up the rest will be a ginormous task.

After my learning is at a satisfactory level, I suppose the baby-making will begin. It's not accomplished in the way you would think... [cropped]

Cool! You will be omnipotent! Instead of making babies, why don't you work on some of the worlds problems instead? Start with starving people/children and work your way upwards.

Stake President is merely a reference to how stakes hold the tent in place. Stake Presidents are firm foundations for the Church. I know...our terminology can be a bit different sometimes.

Sure it's not an oblique reference to that bit in Saw Judges 4 and reprised in 5, when Jael, wife of Heber the Kenite, hammered a tent stake through the head of Sisera (captain of the army of Jabin, king of Hazor) and into the ground while he lay sleeping? I think you are the first Mormon I have ever conversed with and to be honest I don't know much about your beliefs at all.

Could you fill me in on the Mormon position (or your own) on any or all of the following 3?

The age of the Earth/Universe.
Evolution.
Homosexuality.

These just help me to place you and your faith in the heirarchy of insanity.

For the first question, I think we as human beings are skeptical to begin with. There is no evidence, but there is hope. We work with that hope, and it can eventually blossom into faith. Even the smallest amount of faith can lead a man to Christ, if he puts that faith to work on finding out if the Gospel of Christ is true.

The only downside I see to not having faith would be that a person will most likely not attain the highest degree of glory. If the truth is presented to someone while they are on earth, but they reject it, then the burden falls to them to correct this action lest they lose all possibility of returning to God. Those without knowledge of Christ will all be saved, and they will be given equal opportunity in the next life to accept Him as their Savior. In this way God is both Just and Merciful.

Believing in God, therefore, is very good, for it give us the chance to become like Him some day. Disbelief isn't bad either, but it's still failing the test in a way.

You didn't answer my question. Why is belief so good that it is rewarded the highest degree of glory, as you say. why do you guys reward belief more than you reward doing good things? As i understand it, if your god is truly good, doing the more good things you do the more you resemble him. why is belief required?

It's not accomplished in the way you would think...making Spirit Children is a completely different process, and hundreds of thousands can be made at once. It's also easier since I'll have my entire family to help out. (In Heaven, we can also get sealed to multiple wives since the laws of the land no longer interfere with God's law.)

I'll send these Spirit Children on their way, and they will have a Savior to help them overcome sin, just like Jesus did for us. It won't be anyone in my blood line. It may not even be a person from our planet. You see, we believe that Christ is the Savior of other planets as well, not just our own. Heavenly Father's contemporaries made spirit children for their own planets, and Christ had to save them too. We are lucky enough to be on the planet to where God's only Begotten Son was sent!

This is a lot of crazy. You see, believing in things like this doesn't make me a better or worse person, it just makes me gullible. Curious, have you taken the time to look at all the religions on earth?
