I used to watch those shows when I was young along with Laugh-In, Bewitched, The Monkeys and more. I remember sneaking out of bed and sitting at the end of the hall to watch TV. Eventually my mother got wise and moved the TV to the other side of the room. I'll never get over that. When I was a little older and could stay up past 8pm my favorite shows were All in the Family, Maude, Mary Tyler Moore, Happy Days, Welcome Back Kotter, and when that mini series Roots came on I was glued.

Remember when Dr. Bellows always showed up at Major Nelson's house at the most inconvient time?

I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

TV rots your brain, although less with older shows
In toto, that stuff was second rate when it was made and has not improved with age.
GOOD TV comedy of yore: (all British of course) Hancock's Half hour http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgE1YqZjQbY Yes,Minister/Prime Minister. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNKjShmHw7 Steptoe and son (Stanford and Son a pale imitation) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWi7c3jwyeM Till Death us do part (Archie Bunker was a pretty good US version of Alf Garnet) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pYD-F52eRM The Two Ronnies http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cz2-ukrd2VQ I've left out Monty Python and Fawlty Towers as that would be unfair.
