I don't own any sort of game system. Hell, I'd have to google the names of them to refer to them correctly.

Besides, even if no one would remember, that's a pretty shitty excuse for someone else to waste a lifetime on. I mean, I wouldn't want to get to my death bed and look back and say, "yeah, I didn't do shit with my life because no one else I know did and everybody was playing Warcraft."

Just sayin.Undecided
Careful there. You might just trip over your own ego.

If someone wants to spend their life doing something they enjoy, why shouldn't they? I bet you wouldn't see someone who spent their life mastering a musical instrument or playing a sport as wasting their life.

Hey, you're the one who made the claim. I responded. That's on you.

I totally would think they were wasting their life if they did nothing with it. I've learned an instrument and performed hundreds, if not thousands of shows - many with major national acts.
I'm not the grand judge for useful lives, but I have an opinion about people that waste away month after month, year after year playing a worthless game that means nothing and I am sharing that opinion in an appropriate place.

If you can offer me evidence that spending years in front of a TV monitor shooting zombies and crashing cars has any kind of redeeming value I'll consider your point. Until then, I'm going to stick to the opinion that playing video games should be kept to rainy Sunday afternoons at the most.

Youtubers who upload videos of them gaming, which people then watch, and they make money off it. Quite a lot of money too, the popular ones. There are also competitions with cash prizes for some multiplayer games that require a lot of skill.

That sounds excellent. Kudos to those players. I'm sure history will remember them as a great human talent and a benefit to all mankind.
I do however wonder what the percent of winners is in comparison to the total amount of world wide gamers? .0000001% perhaps?

Just a thought. Thinking

Your sarcasm is duly noted, considered, and subsequently disregarded.
There are a lot of musicians who don't make it. Does that mean music is a waste of time? If people enjoy doing something, I say let them do it without ridicule. I'm done here.

What is "making it?" I know hundreds of musicians that make a living playing music and thousands more that I know OF. Also, you moved the goal posts a bit. We were originally talking about being remembered in this life for doing something worthwhile, not necessarily becoming famous.

As for ridicule, if there was any, at most it was implied and even then, mostly just goofy sarcasm. I'm sure my opinion will not affect you or any other gamer. It's certainly not a subject worth getting upset about.
