Dude, you need to fix something first. You saying "If" you were mistaken is calling me a liar when I say you're wrong.
Prove your statement, retract it, or fuck off.

I would like to know what else theists think of atheists, since I had an analogy at 1 point but I found it worked better when atheists are perceived than when theists are perceived. It goes like this:
"An atheist is like that internet troll that gets the largest of reactions by posting in popular fanbases. For example, they might post in a Star Trek forum. Shortly afterwards, the troll gets countless responses for the given circumstances. Profit."
Is it an alright analogy, theists? Are We / Am I the internet troll in a religious world?
Can't say if it's the mainstream depiction of how theists see atheists, but from what I can gather religious beliefs are so integral into our culture, in America in particular, that a lot of people who grew up on those beliefs find the idea of an atheist to be hard to fathom which is probably where the questions like, "Why don't you believe in God?" or "What's it like not believing in God?" generally steam from. As if you're some kind of extraterrestrial or walking paradox that couldn't possibly exist. They try to understand you at first and then when you present your side of the story and start to make strong arguments they can't dispute they become hostile and do what they can to discredit you.
The troll analogy might not be that far off.

Cowards need to stop getting into it with their intellectual superiors if they're just gonna run at the first sign of being backed into a corner. Stand your fucking ground or shut the fuck up.
Intellectual superiors? You?

Given you believe a guy was nailed to the cross for several days and died and then came back to life three days later and floated into the sky and inevitably into orbit and the extremely radioactive zero-kelvin temperature of outer space?
And given that I do not?
Yeah, I'm your intellectual superior.

Impossible question to answer, atheists are such a diverse group. I think that like theists, there is a good deal of arrogance and "me better" in atheist groups. With Christians it tends to be more righteous or spiritual than thou. With atheists it's often more intellectual or more disinterested than thou. Lot of point scoring. Like theists some atheists raise their views to the level of dogma.
One thing I will say, atheists may deplore or even dispise theists, and treat them with unbecoming contempt, but they don't try to tell them they are going to hell!

There is probably something profound there. Christianity tells people that the members get a different deal from the non members. Atheism offers the same regardless of your commitment to it.
