What do Theists Think About Atheists?
October 16, 2013 at 9:24 am
Maybe We can get some theists to post a response to the thread title.
I would like to know what else theists think of atheists, since I had an analogy at 1 point but I found it worked better when atheists are perceived than when theists are perceived. It goes like this:
"An atheist is like that internet troll that gets the largest of reactions by posting in popular fanbases. For example, they might post in a Star Trek forum. Shortly afterwards, the troll gets countless responses for the given circumstances. Profit."
Is it an alright analogy, theists? Are We / Am I the internet troll in a religious world?

Only God knows your heart. As a practical matter Scripture tells is that we know people by their fruits.

So, in other words, you're free to judge people, and free to deny any responsibility in the matter when you do.

Only God judges people, but somehow he happens to always agree 100% with what Christians think.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

I have a gay couple as neighbors and they seem like the most loving, joyous, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle and self-controlled people I've met in a long time. Fruit like that Chad, or are you so discerning that the verses that immediately precede these are held to a higher degree of credibility in the Cherry Pickers Buybull? Most self-proclaimed christians don't have half of the qualities (fruit) listed in Galatians 5:22-23, but share more than one or two features found in the preceding verses (5:19-21) condemning the sinful acts of the flesh, namely; Sexual immorality, impurity, Idolatry, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, self-ambition, dissensions, factions, envy, and drunkenness. Now Chad, these are the qualities that describe most of the christians I know or have ever known. It seems that "they will not inherit the kingdom of heaven." (I've bolded the sinful acts of the flesh that Paul has condemned. I see most christians regularly engaged in as a daily lifestyle)
Theists think that all of the good stuff in the buybull is talking about them, and they think that all of the condemnation crap in the buybull is aimed at atheists. It's simple really. Oh, sure, they may dispute this fact, but just "look at their friut" and you'll know the truth.

Only God knows your heart - because no-one in biblical times had the fainted clue what the Brain did (including Jesus).
They thought you think with your heart.

I've always envisioned that they see us as drunk drivers.

Having been a Christian before I think they find themselves duty bound to try and convert/save us because it's what they're taught to believe and do. However I think they hold in contempt those who reject what have to say. I'm sure they think we're ignorant, lost, misled, and unfortunate people who are in for a rude awakening upon death, but of course that sentiment is completely reciprocal in how we see them.
They aren't very different from us really, both groups feel we have something great to offer that will enrich the other person's life and are sadly beating a dead horse. I think the difference between us and them though is that we don't feel threatened from genuinely listening to what a Christian (or whatever faith) has to offer, we can genuinely weigh both sides because we don't feel we have anything to lose by hearing what they has to say; they on the other hand I think might feel very threatening if they consider the fact that we may have a point so they choose to glaze over rather than genuinely hear the other person out.

If there are Gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. Beliefs affect behaviors. If I believe that I can fly, and that belief causes me to leap from a bridge; would that not affect judgments of my personality? Would I have in fact been a "good" person, or an even better person if I had challenged my beliefs with greater scrutiny? What is a "good person"? Whether this quote is one of your own or not, I do not know, but I do challenge the position that suggests beliefs do not shape our ideologies, and in turn, our behaviors, and next, our reputation.

Calling an apple an orange results in one of two things: either it makes you sound like an idiot or a troll. Most free thinkers I have the pleasure of knowing avoid this, so that thankfully excludes many internet atheists from this problem.
