Really, "attractive" is a subjective word.
So one's ugly girl can be a beauty for someone else, as we say that the heart is like a fly, it can land on anything it desires.

That, in a nutshell, is what I was going to say.

Perhaps the study should have been "Men are happier with women THEY find attractive".

Well, the feminist OP doesn't seem to like that notion. He thinks that women should be happy with the guy they fight attractive and not the other way, whereas in fact, it takes two sides of the equation to be attracted to eachother to be happy.

I think there is a lot happening when we look at physical attractiveness and double standards between the sexes. First, as you said, women are supposed to not be motivated by physical characteristics. I think this is due in part to the idea that heterosexual male attention is the ultimate prize for a woman and that a woman owes a man her affection simply for being attracted to her, which is why we see not conventionally attractive male actors getting the conventionally attractive girl in movies. I also think there is the assumption that if a man is very physically attractive, he must have a partner who is equally or more attractive, because why would he be with a woman who is less attractive than he (completely disregarding the possibility that he could love someone for more than just looks)? And then there is the whole idea that if a man is more conventionally attractive than his partner (in a heterosexual couple), she owes him...
