What do you call a non follower of neither atheism or theism

Is exactly how I view your need to label me. Why must I be "this" or "that"? Is it merely to soothe your need to label me, or is there a deeper reason why you need to label me? I have no such need for labeling you. I suspect that if I labeled myself an "atheist" or "theist" that it'd ease a sense of tension others have with regard to "what" I am. As I have stated; the labels others put on me are for their needs, and not for anything that aids me at all. If I said I was "black" or "white" it'd give lead for prejudice to rise up. Why is it not sufficient to say that I am what this world has labeled a "human", and leave it at that?

As others have already said, there is no such thing as being a 'follower of atheism'.

Atheism is not a dogma, has no doctrine, no holy text, nothing to worship, etc. It is not a worldview. It is a single position on one claim.

Belief is defined by contemporary analytic philosophers of mind as - the psychological state in which an individual holds a conjecture or premise to be true.

Theism is the psychological state in which an individual holds the premise that a god or gods exist to be true.

Atheism is NOT accepting the premise that a god or gods exist to be true. Full stop.

To repeat, it's a single position on a single claim.

So, whether you accept the label or not, if you don't currently hold that at least one god exists to be true, you are an atheist. Call yourself whatever you want.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

If I asked you:

Me: Hi, do you believe in god?
You: No
Me: So you`re an atheist?
You: No
Me: But you don`t believe in God?
You: Yeah, but I ain`t an atheist.

I don`t understand why you don`t want to be labeled. I like labeling stuff. It makes me horny.

Hilarious! ROFLOL

My point is far simpler than anticipated. As far as I'm concerned you can call me whatever you like. It is I who has no need for labels.

I have been called "fill in the blank" and it always comes down to perspective, observation, and ultimately, opinion/consensus. But what does any label actually say about who/what I am as a being?

As I label myself you'll begin to form a "picture" of me in your mind. If I do not label myself, then you are left alone to see me as I really am, instead of one belonging to this or that camp.

Right about now, some have labeled me as an "ass" or "uncooperative" or "you get the idea". If I label myself a "nice guy" and someone disagrees with [my perception] of the truth in that label, and calls me a "jerk" then what good is my label to them? Labels are selfish (not necessarily in an altogether bad way).

You don't want to be labelled. Good. Labels and being labelled are important.
One of my rules is -Don't argue with anybody who makes their own definitions.-

A part of the growing atheist movement has been to more effectively take control of the definition of the word atheist (later to be used as a label.) The definition used most commonly here I find to be: "One who does not believe in any god or gods." I'd call this the definition of "weak" atheist where the lack of belief is essentially a passive activity. My pet rock is an atheist. It doesn't believe in anything.
There are others: The other or "strong" definition of atheism is the one in which the believer actively believes that there are no gods. That is the definition which my dictionary uses: "Atheist: one who believes (actively) in no gods."
Then there is the protestant Christian definition of atheist: Atheist = evil person. I believe this definition is used because the memeplex of protestant Christianity recognizes (probably without consciously realizing it because I don't believe that protestant Christianity is conscious,) atheism of any sort as a threat to its reproduction, spread and prosperity.

Using the "weak" definition, one is either a theist or atheist (not-theist.) Just like one is either a brick or not a brick. There's a logic principle here. The excluded middle rings a bell. One is either A or not A there are no other choices.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat? Huh

Label you right now as "Mr. needs to eat a dick." You have an avatar, you have a handle, you have the self-righteous spiel and lower-case i; you are not even selfishly unlabeled. Dodgy

Got tired. :|
If you don`t want to be labeled fine, but that doesn`t save you from being prejudged.
Also, those who judge solely on the group they belong (with some exceptions like nazis - and exceptions exist even then) are fucking IDIOTS and should

Thanks! However that helps you get through the moment.

You may have just outed 80% of the members here. Have you not just judged me because you think I have Buddhist ideology?
If I were to label you now, based upon your own words, would it impress you? No? And neither do your labels impress me.

I find it fascinating, the need to label me anything.
