My ideal form of government is a democracy that takes economic ideas from both capitalism and socialism.

Capitalism in its purest form is a slave system where the corporate owners pretty much own the "wage slaves". Socialism in its purest form is a slave system where the government owns the workers. That's why I think the ideal is somewhere in between, where the competing forces of government, business, unions to represent the workers, etc are competing against each other for power. That competition is good overall, and provides the checks and balances needed to keep things fair.

In theory, we're close to having this type of economic system in the United States, but it's still slanted heavily in the direction of capitalism over socialism. That's why I support "liberal" changes such as raising the minimum wage to a living wage, better protections for workers and consumers, etc that limit the power of corporations. But if we ever move too far in the direction of true socialism, then we'll need to balance it back the other way. I don't see that happening any time soon, though.

We never should have gotten involved in that war to begin with. Just because I think our system of government is a good one (not perfect, but good), that doesn't mean we should be imposing it on other countries. I'm a "lead by example" kind of guy, not a "lead by force" type.

I don't really know how North Vietnam does things, and whether it was right to help South Vietnam, but I'm pretty sure at least helping South Korea was the right thing to do. North Korea is pretty much the worst country in the world.

Communism has failed in every country it's been tried. The only big exception is China, but they tend to have a more government-controlled capitalism than pure communism.

I don't think there has ever been a communist country. Socialist dictatorships don't like to be referred to as socialist dictatorships, for some reason. It's like when you have a government run by a vicious, sadistic, murderous bastard and you call it "Christianity."
