Wrath of God

RE: Wrath of God
Nothing like urban legends taken as fact to scare people into the enslavement of organized religion.

A Glass of the Wrath of God - By Martin Wells Knapp

In one of the silent towns of the West, years ago, there lived an able and faithful minister of the Gospel. There was in his parish at a certain time an unusual interest in religion, and a sermon was preached on the "Wrath of God." It was a very faithful discourse, and deeply affected the congregation. After the sermon an inquiry meeting was held, and many remained. Among the number were two wicked young men, who, from motives of curiosity or mischief, placed themselves among the inquirers. They tried to disturb the meeting and distract the attention of those who were really serious. After the meeting they went to the hotel, and, walking up to the bar, called for something to drink. They were asked what they would have. One of them replied, "Give me a glass of the wrath of God." The bartender turned him out something in the usual way, and he drank it and instantly fell dead upon the floor! A powerful impression was made upon the young men of that place, and the event is remembered there yet with fear and dread.

So what was the name of the town?

When did the event occur?

Who was the victim?

Who was the bartender?

In other words this is just another unfounded and unsubstantiated fairytale(much like the bible)

meant to frighten and intimidate the credulous and weak minded.

So in answer to your question......

"What do you think of this story serving as a warning of what can happen to those who disrespect Christians and mock God?"

Not a lot.

This reminds me of when I was a Christian, we used to hear all kinds of unfounded conversion stories of famous historical figures. One of the most popular ones was that on his death bed Charles Darwin accepted Jesus as his lord and savior. The Christian community will do anything to promote their lies.

What I find more humourous about the Darwin conversion story is that it doesn't score them any points either way. Even if Darwin had converted and said that evolution was a lie, it doesn't change the evidence for evolution, and it doesn't invalidate the idea.

Once a fella doubted my divinity. He died a week later.

There ya go, proof of Dotard's divinity and a warning to those who would mock me and/or my followers.

I felt bad afterwards so I created the Rose flower so it may serve as a reminder to mankind I have promised never to do that again.

Now praise me.
I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

To all who ask why no names given:

Have you not heard of protection of privacy? Just because names of persons or places are left out does not make a story false. Come on, guys.

That's a pretty lame reason.. Anyway, this is a pretty old story, well over a 100 years.

It still fails to mention a date, if this was a documented case then there would be names anyway.

Haven't you heard "The names have been changed to protect the privacy" in some cases when accounts of events are given?
